There are several obstacles that characters have to overcome in The House of Hades by: Rick Riordan. Percy and Annabeth are pulled into Tartarus a place where monsters are reborn and where there is never ending torture. This place is not fit for demigods such Annabeth and Percy. Also, Percy and Annabeth’s friend Hazel have to defeat a goddess that can only be defeated by her with power that Hazel does not know how to use or…
In this Percy Jackson and the Olympians book, it starts out when Thalia daughter of Zeus, Annabeth daughter or Athena, and Percy son of Poseidon set out to help Grover who found two really power full half bloods escort them back to camp have blood. But then they run into trouble when this really power monster shows up that works for Cronus try’s to take Bianca and Nico the two really powerful other half bloods.…
Percy’s experiences goes through the steps of The Hero’s Journey. First of all,”The Hero’s Journey” first step is Separation and percy gets separated from every field trip he is on because is a troubled kid . Percy feels out of place being on field trips because on every field trip something weird or unlucky happens to him and only to him. For Example, on his fifth-grade school,he had an accident with a Revolutionary War Cannon and ended up accidently hitting the school bus. Being a Half-Blood makes him not normal. Furthermore, The second step is to call to adventure and percy got in trouble and had to go with Mrs.Dodds.When percy reached up with Mrs.Dodds told…
After a long time they finally make it to the gates of the underworld.Once they get into the underworld it is a little scary. They meet curbis and Annabeth gets the idea to play fetch with Cerberus using a red rubber ball she stole from the Waterworld gift store. Her idea works and percy and grover get out of there fast. When they all go through the metal detector thing it goes off so they just run straight through it.As they run away annabeth gets a little upset because the cerberus reminded her of the dof she had at her…
Since the group needed the second pearl they had to find it in a museum. They saw a giant statue of a Athena in the center of the room. The pearl was on her crown, it was too busy to take it that moment so they had to stay after hours. They used the flying shoes Luke loaned them to get it. They had it but they saw five janitors, who said to Percy, “give us the lightning bolt Percy Jackson.” He ran and they all turned into a three headed dragon. Percy dropped the pearl, he needed a distraction to be able to get it. So Annabeth started to call it names and ran. He almost got it when they breathed fire, he used the shield Luke gave him to protect himself. He used his water powers to break the fountains and splash all water on the beast. Percy cut off its heads, but he didn't know they grew back but with more. Now it had six heads! They got the pearl and ran towards the door when it was about to blow fire at them. Grover took out Medusa’s head and showed it to the beast. It turned to rock and they left. Thank goodness he was with his friends or he would have been doomed.…
Percy Jackson has to go through the Road of Trials, The road of trials confronts you with takes or challenges. Percy has to face many characters on his road to fix the gods. Percy fights medusa, cerberus, luke and others to get what he has came for, Poseidon's Bolt. His ability to continually beat and out fight opponents allows the Road of Trials to be noticed and to form. The hero takes him to Saint Louis, Las Vegas and back to NYC where he is met by his father. Saint Louis contains a needed pearl so does Las Vegas. This is called the Night or Sea Journey. The novel guides Percy around the United States so he can accomplish his goal. The Dragon Battle is not literally a dragon with a battle but a battle with a power that is clearly stronger than the hero. In the case of the Lightning Thief, Percy fights a Hades. Hades was the one who took the lightning bolt from poseidon and stirred all this mess. Lastly the Sacred Marriage comes into play. Even Though scared marriage can be a literal marriage, for Percy, it's not. As the story goes along Percy grows a strong emotional bond with his friend Annabelle. Percy allows this bond to continue to grow and uses it to his advantage at times. The Fulfilment, or part two of the Hero's Journey adds good plot to the…
One thing I loved about the book is the characters. Everybody has an identity that they will have to live by to cover their real one. Every half-blood has ADHD and is dyslexic because they need for fighting skill and understanding The Greek language. For example, like Chiron,he's supposed to be Mr.Bummer, a Latin teacher in a motorized wheelchair, but his real identity is a centaur, half man, and half horse. Another thing that I like was the…

In the book the parts that I like in the book are the best parts with all the detail and the story plot of things throughout the book. One thing I liked was on pages 346 and 347 because the suspense was crazy with everything that was going on with prims death. It made me not want to stop reading until I found out what was going on and it just kept me going and going to see what the whole story was. This was a very good thing in the book because I didn’t like most of the things in the book so this detail made it so that the book was kind of interesting. I love the parts that are in suspense because of the thrill it gives even though the thing that happened was very sad it still excites me for what is to come. There are many other suspenseful parts in the book this is just one example I wanted to give of the books many suspenseful parts. If the book didn’t have the suspense like it did I wouldn’t Another part in the book that I liked because of the twist in the story was on page 372 when Katniss is trying to kill president snow and so I don’t ruin it for you let’s just say it doesn’t end up like that. Someone else dies instead of president snow and now he knows that Katniss was trying to kill him and she can’t do anything about it. The twist is that she kills the other…
Percy is a brave, spirited natural leader, and is willing to risk his life to save friends, family, strangers, and sometimes even enemies. He has a sarcastic and smart sense of humor, and has earned respect of all the Olympians, including Artemis (who dislikes all…
Instead of simply being gifted with magic, Percy is the son of a Greek God. His friends aren’t mere mortals with spell books. They are Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr. The section of school that hates him isn’t the old home of the series’ big evil, but the most competitive section of students, the children of the God of War, Ares. And instead of Quidditch, Percy finds himself participating in a chariot race. The world of The Lightning Thief brings Greek mythology into the modern world. Who knew that Mount Olympus was located on floor 1000 of the Empire State Building? Or that the Greek gods are responsible for the spread of Western civilization? Unbeknownst to us, we walk among monsters who scour the Earth hoping to find the children of Gods before the Gods do in order to eliminate their competition.…
Percy is a camp counselor and has once been transformed into a guinea pig. As an egyptian, he knows magic and sword fighting and he’s a boy. He has a girlfriend, Zia Rashid, and has a sister, Sadie Kane. Carter…
Once stated by Edith Hamilton, the author of the original myth “Perseus”, “The fullness of life is in the hazards of life.” (Hamilton). Meaning that you aren’t living unless you are truly face to face with death and risk. You are on edge and not cooped up afraid of going for something. And that is exactly what Perseus and Percy Jackson, two heroic figures, live up to. To that extent, “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan transforms the ancient legend of “Perseus” in a compelling, entertaining, and imaginative way through it’s craftsmanship of modernization, sequence of events, characters, and themes. The way in which the innovative retelling captures an audience is a direct statement of it’s creative remake based off the concrete foundation of the original copy produced centuries ago. Utmost, is the way in which the things of the past (a.k.a.-weapons, methods of communication, routine behaviors, etc.) were made present to fit in today's generation is quite an…
For the first time in my entire life I was understanding in a new level what was happening in the book. I was playing the scenes out in my head and actually enjoying the read. I saw the horse running through the fields, big and muscular. I imagined a below average size boy taming and training the ginormous creature. It all finally came together. I was overjoyed at the end of the book and I was ready for another exhilarating read. After this it took me a while to find another book that could match up to the previous one. But after a while I found a few more books that gave me the same exciting…
