INTRODUCTION “The pace of life has accelerated remorselessly over the past few centuries. Our cultural evolution is an exponential trajectory in which everything is speeding up” (Hames, 2007). The advent of globalization has driven managers to be adaptive to changes in leadership patterns. Leadership today is extremely different from what it was years back and may equally differ in years to come. Over the course of this module, several guest speakers have given inputs on different aspects of leadership and its efficacy in contemporary global business environment. This paper aims at looking at the contributions of a few guest speakers and building connections between their ideas in order to form a more coherent perspective on the various notions in the discourse. For the purpose of this paper, seminar presentations by Kypros Kyprianou, Martin Plant, Fiona Beddoes-Jones, Marshall Ganz and Professor Stuart Toddington will be made use of. The concept of leadership has been the topical issue of discussion over the course of this module. A point worthy of note was the emphasis placed on the diverse definitions attributed to leadership by the speakers. Martin Plant, made reference to Grint, (2005) saying leadership is an eternally contested concept. Other scholars have echoed this notion, for example according to Stodgill (1974), “there are almost as many different definitions of leadership as there are the persons who have attempted to define the
