By: Gabby Z. The Avengers was a great movie that portrayed the vices and virtues in modern movies. There were a lot of Vices in the movie and a lot of people who ignored what they were supposed to do because the vice took over them. This happens a lot in our everyday lives the vice takes over and we become a different person, ignoring God’s call. The three Avengers I chose to write about are Iron Man for his Pride, Loki for his Greed, and the Hulk for his Wrath. I think that Iron Man had a lot of Pride. This Vice interfered with his mission because he constantly wanted everything to be about himself so he cast the other Avengers aside so he could do it by himself. At one part in the movie when they were trying to calm Thor down …show more content…
Iron Man and Captain America were basically fighting against each other at the same time. This really did not help their situation at all because they were not solving the original problem, which had nothing to do with them. Iron Man should have had Faith and Humility in that moment and if he continued to make that a habit a lot of his problems would be solved. It takes work to develop strong virtues but in the end it will solve many of your problems. Iron Man wasn’t the only avenger with vices though. I think that Loki had immense Greed when it came to the Tesseract. This Greed manifested his ability to do good and choose the good. One example of this was when Thor was trying to tell Loki how great his life would be if he just gave up the Tesseract. Loki wasn’t having any of it though so he stabbed Thor. Loki should have turned to Love instead of letting the greed take him over. This vice is pretty common in our world from the littlest of children to the oldest people. People in our world just need to turn towards love before you let Greed take over you to ruin relationships with your family, friends, and anyone. The last Avenger that I saw a big Vice in was the Hulk.
The Hulk had a lot of wrath. The wrath consumed him so that he was using his gift for the worst. In one part of the movie when the corner of the ship was blown off parts of debris hit the Hulk. This angered him very much. So he turned from the doctor into the Hulk and basically went on a rampage throughout the ship, hurting and destroying whatever came in his way. The Hulk could have turned towards justice to solve this vice, but he was so consumed in the anger that he could not see above it. People today suffer from Wrath a lot. The littlest fight can turn into a grudge and if you hold onto that grudge for long enough eventually you have lots of Wrath towards that person. People today should turn towards justice and forgiveness because nothing comes out of your anger besides broken friendships and relationships. We all have our vices and they are going to get in the way all the time, but we need to learn to get back up and strive towards virtuous lives. All of the Avengers had little and big vices but in the end they were able to cast away the vices and work together for the safety of other people. Vice and Virtue are connected by Virtues being a way to reverse or bring the good out of a Vice. You should fight against vices to live a good virtuous life. We should strive to eliminate the vices in our lives because if we do then we will be eternally rewarded in Heaven
forever.
