Below is a free essay on "Personality Reflection" from Anti Essays, your source for free research papers, essays, and term paper examples.
Personality is what defined us as an individual. It is the, who and what and how we interact with one another. Personality is what gives an individual his or her identity on how they feel and act in a certain way. Understanding the types of personalities one have can help in deciphering emotions and social interactions. I will address the definition of personality, my own key personality features, how others view my personality, personality test and results, what makes a test reliable and valid.
According to Online Dictionary.com (2011), personality is defined as “the quality of being a person; existence as a self-conscious human being; personal identity.” The state of being a self-conscious is how I would define personality. Personality is the essence of human interaction. Take away the individual personalities and the interactions will become somewhat like a robotic and very predictable. The eight key aspects, which together help us understand the complex nature of the individual personality, are: “unconscious aspects, ego forces, biological being, conditioned and shaped, cognitive dimension, traits, skills and predispositions, spiritual dimension and interaction. For as long as I can remember I have always been a helpful individual. More so than being rewarded for helping, my satisfaction has come from just knowing I help another in need. For example, I’ve learned at a young age to just help my mother in everything she does, this is also a

Personality is difficult to describe, but nearly impossible to define in a universally acceptable way. Throughout history many definitions of personality have been proposed but none universally accepted. This is because of the reality that each individual’s definition comes with a unique spin placed upon it by that individual’s life experience, surroundings, and personal viewpoint. Personality can be described as the regular presentation of certain traits and attributes that lend cohesion and uniqueness to behavior and thought (Feist & Feist, 2009). Although there is not a single, universally accepted definition of personality,…

There are many different ways that people are referenced and categorized. People are lumped into groups based off of gender, race, economic background and even social background. Of all these categories, personality is one category that differentiates us from one another. It is the one thing that makes us completely different and unique from everyone else. It is often easy to associate people with similar characteristics as having similar personalities, however psychologists know that similar characteristics have no influence on personalities being the same. People with similar genetics, experience and motivational factors often have completely different reactions…

Is personality a psychoanalytical phenomenon, a biological process or perhaps slow learning processes developed over the course of your life? These people have developed their own perspectives on personality which each try to describe a person. There are currently…

There are many characteristics that could be used to describe me. I am very outgoing, committed, action-oriented, and organized, among many other things. Sadly not all of my traits are considered positive; I can be considered high strung, stress driven, controlling, and having a strong desire to always need to impress. All of my positives are very helpful in anything that involves people, especially planning and organizing events which is something I have done many times in high school and also college. With all of these traits in mind, I agree with the psychodynamic perspective, which is a personality that is primarily unconscious (King, 2013, pg.362), I believe that our characteristics are created by our reaction to society and then certain traits stick and become a part of us without even realizing it. One trait that I significantly gained awareness to and utilized to my full advantage in my senior year of high school and still use is being action-oriented. I made connections to people easily and in team-based situations I was the one that made sure people stayed focused, while still making sure that everyone felt their opinions were still being heard. I often just assumed responsibility, and made sure all issues came to closure in a positive way, this was something that I believe that I just grew up learning and knowing because I am the oldest of seven children.…

Many times in people's lives, they are asked to define their personality and they do not know how to respond. What is the actual definition of personality and how can we define our own? Personality is a unique consistent pattern of thinking, feeling, and acting. In other words, personality is a combination of characteristics or qualities that form the person in you. Like a painting, there are many different color schemes that combine in order to show the big picture. There is no such thing as a person without a personality. Some people may not…

According to Guralnik (1987), personality is defined as, the quality or fact of being a person or a particular person. Guralnik (1987) also defines personality as, distinctive individual qualities of a person, considered collectively. Personality is a definition that is hard to put one definition. Individuals each have their own definition. Even psychologists only agree on a vague term of personality. Instead of agreeing on one specific definition, psychologists have instead chosen to develop theories that describe the origins of an individual’s personality.…

The key personality features that are used to define me are built on the set of psychological traits that make me different from others but are based on the eight basic aspects of personality, and these aspects are psychoanalytic, neo-analytic/Ego, biological, humanist/existential, behaviorists, cognitive, traits, and perspective. However, when concerning my personal personality features I would describe myself being honest, reliable, outgoing, open to new experiences, intelligent, and a loving/caring type of person. For example, I am the type of person who gets along well with others and respect personal judgment for others regardless of the situation (Friedman & Schustack, Chapter1, 2011).…
