Ayanna Pressley, the first female person of color elected into the city of Boston’s council in 106 years and more. Pressley, was born on February,3 1974 in Chicago Illinois. The only thing that set her apart from the other kids back then was (other than the color of her skin) the fact that she was raised by her mother and only her mother. This being so, she grew up with a found conation with her mother especially on election day. “ My mother was never cynical about the role that government, compassionate government could play in our lives. On election day, from a very young age, I felt powerful. Pressley was educated in Boston University, but when her mother lost her job their lives to an unfortunate turn and she had to drop out of school so she could help
her mother support the family. Later on, Pressley began her legend as a senior aide for congressman Joseph Patrick Kennedy II and U.S senator John Kerry as his political director. Soon the public was recommending she run for herself, and wisely she took the advice and became the open to change ,inspirational, communicative leader we know her to be right here in Boston.

One of the ways being the things she does and supports, including the community charities and founds she runs and joins. Those organizations she is part of help influence the next generation of boston to help make an impact or change in their city and make it a better place to live in. Another One of the many actions pressley takes that show us she is a leader with the characteristic of being open to change would be her choices of words showing us what how she feels. For example Pressley has said the following Quote “Don’t wait for permission to do it, and don’t wonder if you know enough or done enough to be cataclysmic for change”, and also “don’t just spark a flame, fan it”,. The lesson Pressley wants us to learn from her words is obvious,if you want to make a change do it don’t wait and make it loud and clear. The second leadership characteristic Ayanna Pressley possess is the characteristic to be an inspiration to others. Pressley display this characteristic in almost every thing she does but the two main ways she dose this is first of all the fact that she was elected into the city of boston’s council. This proves her to possess is the ability to inspire others because she has proven to women and to people of color that if she can do it so can they too, In fact their was an automatic increase of colored female political members in boston. The second way Ayanna pressley shows the leadership characteristic to inspire others is again by her actions. In a particular gathering or political party participation, incorporating everyone from normal voters and grassroots organizers and poll-checkers to state and federal party leaders. It was here that as said by the critics, Ayanna gave a particularly inspiring speech. “However, one of the most moving speakers of that storied weekend was Ayanna Pressley, one of four at-large councilors of the Boston City Council, and the first black woman elected to that position. Her biography of rapid advancement through the ranks of American society, from the tribulation of poverty to the position of at-large city councilor, is inspiring, and a fitting example to all who seek elected office. What was particularly outstanding about Pressley’s address on Sunday was her commitment to the sanctity of the legislature – the idea of governing in the best interest of the people rather than by the people’s opinion alone, imperceptive and imperfectly informed as it may be.”

You start in talking about elections, but I want to know where she’s made some real moves on issues The final leadership characteristic Ayanna Pressley has is the characteristic of being an excellent communicator. With most politics they have a couple meeting and announcements and then that’s it but Ayanna like a lot of the great political leaders of our era take the time to actually interact with her city and neighborhood surroundings by attending and creating little fun active programs with young and old. Another example of this is Pressley’s quote “On July 12th, 100 Black women ranging from CEO's, to artists, educators, elected officials, homeless women, gay, straight, trans, Black women in the dawn, prime and twilight of their lives took their seat and it was an awesome sight to behold. We owned that space, and Black women owned their power”.
How does this quote prove that she is a great communicator? I think a better way to show this would be her work at city council meetings, or at committees? I need to see how she convinces people.
In conclusion, Ayanna Pressley is a strong leader because of three main leadership characteristic she posses. The first is open to change and she proves this becauses of her many speeches. It is Important that a leader has this trait because if they didn’t then they would be leading people into a world where difference would not be their and their would be no change.The second leadership characteristic is inspirational and this she proves with mainly every thing she does but again mostly with her actions. These actions like her being elected first of all are very crucial to a leader because what would be the point of a leader if they didn't have an impact on those they are leading.The last and final leadership characteristic is communicator which she demonstrates with her direct international organisms and actives with the boston community. This plays a significant role in the fact that she is a leader because to become a leader you don't just title yourself as such you have to be a leader threw your people's eyes and you can’t do that without actually communicating with them.
