BUV Recruitment Office At The British University Vietnam Case Study
- Purpose: Recruitment Office at the British University Vietnam is setting up the plan of recruiting more students for the following year (2015). BUV would like to recruit diverse groups of students to attend as the first-time freshmen, transfer and graduated students, who will be retained until degree completion.
- Goals: BUV is currently having approximately 270 students. The Office would like to recruit freshmen as much as possible (students who have graduated from high school). Meanwhile, the number of transfer students can be maintained or increased. BUV is hopefully to achieve another goal of increasing the impressive academic profile of the talented students.
- Objective: To reach the goal that BUV Recruitment Office has set up, some

• Fees are suitable for students to pay. For Vietnamese students, it is an alternative choice for them to study in the international programme instead of studying abroad where they have to pay higher fees.
• A class has the sufficient number of students (usually between ten and twenty students) therefore it will take less time for the lecturer to know the students’ names more easily.
• Each student will have their own tutor so he or she can tell the studying progress as well as getting the advice from the tutor to improve the performance.
• Studying programme is taught in English 100% and students will get certificate from the Universities which are the partners of BUV such as Staffordshire University and the University of London.

- Weaknesses: BUV has only been founded in 2009. Therefore, the university may have some obstacles on the way to meet its objectives and goals. It can be:

• Data provided from Recruitment Officer is not reliable enough to prove whether the previous recruitment activities was successful
• Students are sometimes reluctant to speak English to each other in class although they are supposed to have that habit.
- Opportunity: BUV creates the opportunity for students to work in the foreign companies. As long as students have the break, they can really get the advice from their teachers of the suitable workplace for the internships. It is believed that students in BUV are likely to have more opportunity than students who are from the public universities. This is because due to the value of the international degree when students are graduated. Therefore, big firms may like to take a look at the CV of BUV students more and the chance for them of getting a good job would be higher.
- Assessment: In order to maximise the effort from Recruitment Office, assessment of the activities and initiatives should be conducted:
