McDonald family is a happy family. McDonald married with miss Sonya and have two children, Tom, Richard and Judy. One day when Richard, Tom and Judy clean up the attic in his house, Richard found something in the a behind truck and his found the Aboriginal decoration . So,his parents tell a truth story about Richard after him found the Aboriginal decoration. Have Actually Richard came from an aboriginal background, even Richard is a adopted child but Joe and his family’s still treat him as their own son and give a lot of love and attention to him equal as they give towards their biological children Tom and Judy. Richard know his father came from aboriginal background after his step father explain about his biological father background. In fact, aboriginal background has a one secret and mystery that Richard didn’t know until his step father tell his the story to him, Richard decided to find his ancestry and where he came from before him live here. His biological father wants Richard to find his burial ground and want find the answer why he left a Trujunga to his step father, McDonald’s Richard join the camp at the Alice Spring during two weeks, one of the places in activities is to visited the Alice Springs Art Gallery, and his found some of aboriginal decortion that almost same that his found at his house and Richard asking the curator of gallery, MrAranda to get a information about Aboriginal ritual. When the school of the year is over, Richard asking his step parents to go back to Alice Springs to find his late father burial ground. So Richard go to Alice Springs with Tom and Bradley and with the the help from others people especially Urandangi, finally Richard found his family background. After that, Richard make a decision to futher his study in an Aboriginal Studies and change his name from Richard McDonald to Richard OenpelliMcDonald

Another main character in this story is Tom, Tom is a Richard step brothers. Tom always wearing yellow hats whether him at home or outside. Tom is a matured brother because always give a advice and opinion especially to his brother Richard and Judy.Tom and Richard always spend the time with doing a family activities
In this story , Richard and Tom have a relationship in terms of family relationship.Although Richard is a step brother but Tom still treat him like younger brother.They always spend time together whether at home or outside,Richard always asking a Tom’s opinion and advice when him want doing something. Tom also join Richard go to Alice Springs because ensure Richard safety when doing his mission and make his parents not worried about him because Tom with him.. We can look their family relationship between them although Richard is a step brother until Tom volunteer to help Richard to find his father burial and to ensure his step brother safety until he founds his background and father burial As a conculsion , Richard and Tom is a important role in this story of “Back To The Dreamtime”. Their relationship are very close althrough Tom is a step brother Richard. So Richard should be thankful because have a good family that still treat him very loving especially Tom and Richard shouldappreciate have a good family
