a. Introduction1.Backgroud Of Malaysia Airlines
Malaysia Airlines System Berhad is also known as MAS in short. MAS is founded in 1947 as Malayan Airways, but it has change its name as Malaysian Airline System in 1 October 1972 .MAS is the flag carrier which is own by government of Malaysia. MAS headquarters is situated at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor. MAS operates flights at its first base in Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and secondary base in Kota Kinabalu. Malaysian Airlines System Berhad is the holding company for Malaysia¶s national airlines carrier, one of the fastest growing airlines in Asia. Malaysia Airlines has two airline subsidiaries, which is Firefly MASwings. Firefly operates scheduled flights from its two home bases Penang International Airport and Subang International Airport. The airlines focuses on tertiary cities although has recently launched services to Borneo from KualaLumpur International Airport. MASwings focuses or inter-Borneo flights. Malaysia Airlines has a freighter fleet operated by MASKargo, which managers freighter flights and aircraft cargo-hold capacity for all Malaysia Airlines passenger flights.

MAS are using this type of craft Airbus A330-200 and A330-300. Boeing 737-400, 800 and400/400. Malaysia Airlines operates a fleet of aircraft with two cabin configurations. Malaysia Airlines B777-200ER fleet has a two configuration which is Golden Club Class and Economy Class. Its B747-400 fleet has a three-cabin configuration, also including First Class. Malaysia Airlines premium cabins and Economy Class have been giving numerous awards for excellence in product and service delivery.

From a small air service, Malaysia airlines have grown to become award-winning airline with more than 1000 aircraft, servicing more than 110 destinations across six continents.     Malaysia Airlines started when a joint initiative of the Ocean Steamship Company of Liverpool, the Straits Steamship of Singapore and Imperial Airways led to a proposal to the Colonial Staraits Settlement government to run air service between Penang and Singapore. The result was incorporation of Malayan Airways Limited (MAL) on 12 October 1937. On 2 April 1947, MAL took to the skies with its first commercial flight as the national airline. However, it was renamed as Malaysian Airlines. Soon after Borneo Airways was incorporated into MAL. The Malaysia Airlines headquarters is located at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport Subang, Selangor, Malaysia. It is leading by the Chairman, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof and Tengku Datuk Seri Azmil Zaharuddin as a Managing Director & CEO. In the past years, air travel has been growing by 6% a year and scheduled airlines carried more than 1 billion passengers in 2008. The airline industry involves large capital requirements. For example, the requirements for aircraft, close monitor by the government regulations, competition from other tourist transport and the requirement to have high level of expertise to operate and manage. In the airline industry, aircraft manufacturer is conquered by two companies. They are The Boeing Company and the Airbus SAS. The passenger airlines in Malaysia are Air Asia, Malaysia Airline System Berhad (MAS), Firefly which is owned by MAS, Layang-Layang Aerospace which is based in Sabah to provide air services to Layang-Layang Island, Berjaya Air which is owned by Berjaya Group, Sabah Air and last but not least Hornbill Skyways which is a helicopter service that operates in the rural area of Sarawak. Other than passenger airlines, there are also three cargo airlines that operate in Malaysia. They are the Athena Air services, MAS cargo and Transmile Air Services. Despite the various kinds of air operators, the airline industry in Malaysia is being monopolized by two main operators. The first one is the Malaysia Airline System Berhad (MAS), which is Malaysia’s full service national carrier that first took the skies in 1947 under the name of Malayan Airways Limited. It was formed through a joint initiative of the Ocean Steamship Company of Liverpool, Straits Steamship of Singapore and also Imperial Airways. With a team of young and dynamic people, the domestic carrier turned into an international airline in less than a decade and the name MAS was only fully incorporated in 1973 after going through numerous mergers and separations.
