Badminton Report
June 8th 2013 Saturday As far as I know about badminton is only hit the ball to the opposite direction without letting the ball hit the net. Today, I invited 3 of my friends to my hostel to lecture me for 1 hour to learn more about badminton, they are willing to teach me all their experience in badminton tournament, the rule and regulations and the necessary stretching. Firstly, I learn how to warm up my body, stretching muscles of my neck, legs, arm, and body. After that, I learn the rules of the game, the left position of the service court represent the server’s score is odd number, the right side means the server’s score is even number, every game the right side will serve first, if win then continue to serve from left, then right then left and so on. Every round of the game will be supervised by a referee sitting at the middle of the court and 4 referees at the edge of the court to see whether the ball is out or in the range of the court. Normally victory will determine in 3 matches, 3 matches 2 wins, point of the game for men is either 21 points or 15 points, if match happen to be 20-20, winning point will increase to a clean deuce, means one of the player must be 2 points ahead in order to win. E.g. (22-20 , 21-23). The first player who wins 2 matches first will win the game. After the lecture I had learned a lot of the basics knowledge of badminton. Tomorrow my friends will bring me to play a few matches of real game that will apply the rules and regulations.

June 9th 2013 Sunday 4pm-6pm We booked 2 hours court at grand Kampar sport complex, at 4pm-6pm, because I just have my lunch at 2pm, I was told must wait after few hours in order to play sport. Today is a simply friendly match, we start off by stretching body, wear sport shoes, equip with elbow and leg support protector to avoid any possible injuries, a racket and shuttles. After that, we start our match, it was a double player match, I serve the ball from the right, and my team

Often in other sports, if you want to play, you have to gather a group of people to get a game started. That can take a long time and sometimes you can't find enough people to play. However, in tennis, you only need one other person to play with you to play a game. It is easier to find one other person versus finding a group; you can easily get a best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, or even someone you run into on the court to play with you. If you want to play doubles, you can ask someone on another court if they want to join you and your partner. If you're practicing you don't even need another person; you can hit the ball against a wall or you can just hit balls over the net. In the end, it is easier to find one person than trying to find a team of people.…

I signed up for volleyball. I have only had two practices. Hitherto, I acquired the skills of passing the ball, serve overhand, and set the ball. I failed to attend the first practice. As a result, I do not know how to properly serve underhand. Practice is every Friday night from six “o” clock to six forty-five at Anderson Farm Park. Moreover drills, we play games. One game I relish is where a person serves the ball to the other side of the net and tries to hit someone. If they are not successful, they have to sit were the ball landed. If they do strike someone, they earn a point. Volleyball is an enjoyable experience.…

To be successful in the game of tennis is dependent on the player’s technique as well as biomechanics which play a vital role in stroke production. A fundamental mechanical structure is founds in all tennis strokes.11 The backswing provides the distance. Tennis players need to be able to control the direction of the racket and the timing of the entire movement. The skill level of the tennis player depends largely on the mechanics of their forehand swing. The force of impact is determined by the racket speed at the moment it comes in contact with the ball. When maximum distance is used for accelerating that is when maximum velocity can be obtained. Body weight support is necessary for the forehand drive because shifting weight when striking the ball will increase ground reaction force to the body and the ball. A player wants to be balanced to direct power and energy without losing control. Forward momentum will carry the racket through the ball after contact. The follow through helps prepare the player for the next stroke. It should be long and the arm and racket should wrap around the body. It dissipates kinetic energy off the racket and that is when the player wants to arrive at the right point and balanced to be ready for the next stroke and to be able to play the ball back. The player’s body must absorb the remaining energy of the racket and the…

My mother started playing it at 13 because she has bronchitis and could no longer swim at the level that she hoped too. So, she dedicated herself to playing tennis and eventually became top 200 in the world. My father on the other hand started playing at around the same age but he never became as good as her. In fact, when they met is when my father improved drastically because he had my mother as a coach. After he started to win is when he became a major tennis fanatic and when I say major, I mean wake everyone up at 2 in the morning to watch tennis matches. So when my parents got married and had their first kid and then three years later, they had me. Naturally, they tried to get my brother to start playing tennis at a very young age but he just wasn't feeling it and as much as it hurt my dad, they just kept putting him into different sports. But then he turned 7 and my father took him with this lady that was teaching at the courts he was playing at and that was the start of my brothers career. Since my big brother started playing then its just normal that I did too. At age four I picked up my racquet and little did I know how much that racquet would change my life. I don't really remember much of my early tennis days so I'm going to fast forward three years. By the time I was seven I was ready to start playing tennis tournaments but my coach, Ms. Janan, wouldn't let me until I got…

When the game was first created there weren't really any rules on how the game was supposed to be played, now there are rules that players must obey. Those rules have changed over the years, though the basics have stayed relatively the same. For example, when playing there is a certain number of players allowed on each team that can be playing at once. And when a player is eliminated from the game, he is only able rejoin the game if it doesn't exceed the number of players allowed on the court at one time. Also, when players reenter the game, they must do so in the same order that they were eliminated in.…

Enclosed within a 27’ X 78’ tennis court it was the final point of the match. As I shuffled and pivoted to the right with both my arms gripping my racket at shoulder height; I took a deep breath as I approached the tennis ball and made my move. I pondered how my nerves synapsed with my tendons and ligaments in my arms and feet to produce a forehand, while monitoring my heart beat and regulating metabolic demand, an intrigue with the workings of this familiar, yet mysterious body. It was a matter of seconds, and the ball landed exactly on the boundary of the singles’ court. Game, set, and match! Ten years of practice has taught me every point be played like my life depends on it and these experiences led me to my passion and my future: medicine…

Focusing on the structural level of figuros framework, it can be seen that equity and access in the PE class is not always fair. By first focusing on physical resources such as equipment, it is evident that there is never enough to enable everyone to be playing badminton at once. Playing tennis on a team is a lot different than what people actually interpret from watching professional tennis on TV. Even though they may seem pretty complicated and intense, the rules of tennis are quite simple. Before being apart of this discourse community, I first thought tennis was just a silly game that two people played by hitting a ball back and forth with a racket, but I soon learned that this sport was much more and that it took a lot more skill. Learning how to play the game well requires a player to take in a lot of information of how tennis works and how to use your skills to your benefit.…

    Basketball

Overview: Basketball is a team sport consisting of two teams of five players each trying to score by advancing the ball up the court by dribbling or passing and then shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The game starts at the middle of the court and is called the tip off. The referee tosses the ball in the air in between two players (one from each team), and the players try to tip it to one of their teammates who are circled around them. The team that wins the tip off will get the ball to start the 3rd quarter, and the opposing team will get the ball to start the 2nd and 4th quarters. The game is split into quarters, each quarter lasting 8 minutes. The court is divided into two main sections by the mid-court line. If the offensive team puts the ball into play behind the mid-court line (half court), it has ten seconds to get the ball over the mid-court line. If it doesn't, then the defense gets the ball. Once the offensive team gets the ball over the mid-court line, it can no longer have possession of the ball in the area in back of the line. If it does, the defense is awarded the ball. Each shot made is worth two points, unless the shooter is behind the three point line, then they are awarded three points. When a player is fouled in the act of shooting, he will go to the free throw line to shoot free throws. If the player made the shot and gets fouled, the shot counts and he is awarded one free throw attempt. If he misses the shot while fouled, he gets two free throw attempts unless he was shooting outside the three point line, then he is awarded three attempts. Each free throw made counts as one point for the offensive team. After a foul or a made shot, the opposing team gains possession of the ball and has five seconds to pass it in from out of bounds. After a jump ball the team with the possession arrow will…

    How to Play Basketball

    • 418 Words
    • 2 Pages

In basketball the goal is to score more baskets than the other team. Five people from each team are on the court at all times. Even if a player commits a foul, they stay on the court. Every time you have the ball, you have three options. You can pass, dribble, or shoot. Sometimes shooting is not your best option because you may be too far away from the basket or there are people guarding you. Dribbling the ball is by bouncing in on the ground with one hand only. If both hands touch the ball, that is a double dribble. A basketball game starts off with a jump ball. Usually the tallest player on the team or the best jumper does this. The ref throws up the ball at center court in front of one player from both teams. The players jump and try to hit the ball to their team. The basket your player is facing during the jump ball is the basket you will be shooting at during the game. Now you have the ball. The wide half circle around the basket is the three point line. If you shoot the ball behind that arc you get three points. If you are inside the arc you get two points. If you are shooting and an opponent hits your arm that is a foul. You get to shoot from the foul line which is the line parallel to the basket with the small half circle on the top. Each shot you make from there is worth one point. If you stop dribbling and you take more than two steps, you may be called for traveling and the other team gets the ball. If you go out of bounds the other team gets the ball also. When you do not have the ball you are on defense. Stay in front of the man you are guarding and keep your hands up to avoid them from shooting the ball, since the less they score the better chance you…

The forming of a high-performance and cohesive team is a delicate process that when done properly can reap great results. According to the text Tools for Teams, “effective teams go through three basic phases: formation, development, and renewal.”(Thompson, Aranda &, Robbins, 2000, p. 56) Each phase can prevent great challenges for each individual member of the team. It is an even greater challenge when team members are very diverse due to different personality traits, and differences in skills and abilities, as well as values and attitudes. Adding extra burden is strain brought on by geographical differences. These very challenges can be used as assets, and help create a very successful team. Let us see how this can be done.…
