It marks the end of the primary election and kicks offs the start of the general election. The 2008, DNC took place at the Pepsi center in Denver, Colorado, from August 25 to August 28. At the time, then Senator Barack Obama gave his acceptance speech. He later became the president of the United States of America. By how he wants equal right for all down to how he wants even more for the people that work even harder in this country. Obama talks about how we need to remove our troops from the war in Iraq. He states that “As Commander-in-Chief, I will never hesitate to defend this nation, but I will only send our troops into harm's way with a clear mission and a sacred commitment to give them the equipment they need in battle”. And that while our war heroes are out at war doing everything in their power to protect and defend us, are we doing everything in our power to protect them when they get home? He says that we cannot continue to let our veterans sleep on the street are let our war heroes not know when or where their next meal is coming from or let them go on in life without the proper health and mental care. We must do something to change this epidemic. He also discusses the change we need to make with our eco system and states that we need to end our dependence on oil from the Middle East and “as President, I will tap our natural gas reserves, invest in clean coal technology, and find ways to safely harness nuclear power. I'll help our auto companies re-tool, so that the fuel-efficient cars of the future are built right here in America. I'll make it easier for the American people to afford these new cars.
