The first battle of Bull Run was the first major battle of the United States Civil War which resulted in a major loss and retreat for the Union. At the head of the Union was the sixteenth President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who at the time faced an enormous challenge of a crumbling nation, the future was uncertain and terrifying.
