The Battle of Iwo Jima
Thesis Statement
The Battle of Iwo Jima, one of the most ferocious battles of the Pacific Campaign in World War II. This battle would be fought between the United States and Japan, and would begin in February 1945 and end in March 1945 causing well over 48,000 casualties of war. The main goal of this battle for the United States was to provide a tactical advantage against Japan. The seizure of this island would give the United States this advantage in victory. The Japanese reasoning would be much different, they had a legacy to withhold over 5000 years of Japans existence, no foreign Army has ever successfully trod on Japanese soil which lead to the fierce tenacity of fighting by the Japanese.

The Battle of Iwo Jima
February 14th through March 16th of 1945 on of the most prolific battles of World War II would take place . The Battle of Iwo Jima would take place as part of the Pacific Campaign during World War II . This battle was at first expected to be a short conflict to secure control of the strategically placed island, however it would end up being one of the deadliest battles of the war for both sides. The United States would almost loose 7,000 troops as well as another with the Japanese suffering almost three times that with a staggering loss of over 20,000 .
