Battle of Verdun Speech
Battle of Verdun Speech Good afternoon, I am Cadet Smith, and today I plan to further educate you all on the Battle of Verdun. The Battle of Verdun lasted from February 21st, 1916 to December 19th, 1916; it was known as one of the lengthiest battles in world history. The battle was fought in Verdun-sur-Meuse, France, a small city located in North-Eastern France. The battle was fought between France and Germany. The Commanders in the battle for France was General Philippe Pétain and a French artillery officer known as Robert Georges Nivelle. The Commanders in the battle for Germany were Chief of the General Staff Erich von Falkenhayn and the last Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Prussia and the German Empire, Frederick William Victor Augustus Ernest. To Germany, England was their most important enemy and therefore had to be defeated. Commander-in-Chief General Falkenhayn decided the only way to weaken England was to defeat their ally France by attacking them somewhere important. The Schlieffen Plan was Germany’s strategic plan for victory in a possible future war in which the German Empire might find itself fighting on two fronts: France to the west and Russia to the east. The Plan was to help Germany avoid a two-front war by moving troops in the west and quickly defeating the French and then, if necessary, rushing those troops by train to the east to face the Russians before they had time to mobilize fully. The Schlieffen Plan was created by Count Alfred von Schlieffen and modified by Helmuth von Moltke the Younger after Schlieffen's retirement. The plan was then enforced by Commander-in-Chief General Falkenhayn. France’s objective was to defend the Fort of Douaumont, which the French recognized as their largest and most powerful fort in the world. Fort Douaumont was the largest and highest fort on the ring of 19 large defensive forts protecting the city of Verdun, France since the 1890s. Unfortunately by 1915, it was decided that Fort Douaumont and other Verdun

Even though each soldier would have been involved in some form of continual conflict with serving on the front-line (trench rapids, snipers, shelling), it is possible to distinguish major battles (or pushes) whose names have gone down in history as some of the bloodiest conflicts ever waged. There were many battles that took place during the war but the most remembered were the five major battles. Those battles are, The Battle of Marne (1914 and 1918), The Battle of Verdun (1916), The Battle of Ypres (1914, 1915, and 1917), The Battle of the Somme (1916), and The Battle of Cambrai (1917). This paper will explain the pros and cons and major details of each battle.…

Obviously reading about Patrick Henry is like a flash back to the revolution era. His Speeches are one of the best in America because Patrick Henry motivates the people of Virginia to fight for liberty. That speech made him famous and nowadays he is in the History books . Truly, Patrick Henry is one of the greatest American authors because of his writing style and affect on history . “He spoke without any notes in a voice that became louder and louder, climaxing with the now famous ending. Following his speech, the vote was taken in which his resolutions passed by a narrow margin, and thus Virginia joined in the American Revolution”.(“Patrick Henry.” )…

    Trebuchet Speech

Whereas the proud speech of Melissa Range’s Trebuchet stands as a warning about the ways in which admirable and useful human ingenuity can be perverted to serve ugly and destructive purposes, the Bible in the Anglo-Saxon riddle “Some Enemy Took my Life” offers a Christ-like counter-example of the way that the violence of human craftsmanship can produce art that encourages a community of peace and love. The trebuchet brags of its ingenious creation by intelligent humans, but it speaks of the destruction that comes with such a basic and creative invention. Humans make trebuchets from combining other “harmless machines”(1) so that the machines will be “in harmony”(2). The result is an efficient machine, the trebuchet. Its harmony…

As stated before, the previous ban on horse slaughter in America expired in 2011 under President Obama. This ban made the slaughtering of horses in America illegal, however it still allowed horses to be shipped overseas to foreign countries to be slaughtered. This ban was never removed, it just simply expired. In 2015 a new bill to ban horse slaughter was introduced to congress. This bill is called The Safeguard American Food Exports Act, or (SAFE). This act would alter many acts such as the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act, making all horse parts unsafe. This act in addition would also outlaw the export of U.S. horses and horse meat bound for slaughter and human consumption. Horse meat is most popular in France, Belgium, Italy, and Japan.…

After the Phoney War, the Battle of France began in earnest on 10 May 1940. To the east, the German Army Group B invaded and subdued the Netherlands and advanced westward through Belgium. In response, the Supreme Allied Commander—French General Maurice Gamelin—initiated "Plan D" which relied heavily on the Maginot Line fortifications. Gamelin committed the forces under his command, three mechanised armies, the French First and Seventh and the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) to the River Dyle. On 14 May, German Army Group A burst through the Ardennes and advanced rapidly to the west toward Sedan, then turned northward to the English Channel, in whatGeneralfeldmarschall Erich von Manstein called the "sickle cut" (known as "Plan Yellow" or the Manstein Plan), effectively flanking the Allied forces.[3]…

English IV King Henry V During the Battle of Crispian, King Henry V gives a speech to his men to help calm them and ready them for war. Henry lead his French troops of around 10,000 men from all class against somewhere around 30,000 British. He says many great points and ideals in his speech such as, ¨ It yearns me not if men my garments wear; Such outward things dwell not in my desires”. This to me means that Henry does not care about things such as what class you come from or who you are, only that you will help him fight for what they both believe.…

The Battle of Verdun in 1916 was the longest battle of World War One, which yielded many casualties and was the catalyst for the British starting the Battle of the Somme in July 1916. The objective of the Battle of Somme was to help alleviate the pressure on the British that the Germans had been exerting at the battle Verdun. “The attack on Verdun (the Germans code-named it 'Judgment') came about because of a plan by the German Chief of General Staff, von Falkenhayn (Verdun).” The objective of the Germans during the battle of Verdun was to exhaust all the French resources by forcing them to protect the 20 major forts in the area that served as a source of national pride. By attacking the area and attempting to exhaust the French resources the Germans plan was to bring national shame to the French.…
