You will write an essay that addresses the question below:
“I thought then... that in those few minutes I witnessed the birth of a nation.”
Brigadier-General Alexander Ross on the battle of Vimy Ridge
Why is the battle of Vimy Ridge considered a defining moment in Canadian history?
Your essay will include an introduction, three arguments (not necessarily just three paragraphs) and a conclusion. The goal of your essay is prove your thesis statement.
Your essay must also have proper MLA embedded citations and a works cited (examples will be provided in class). If you submit an essay without citations, or you use sources that have not been provided, your essay will not be marked. You should
use a minimum of three (3) sources. You must include a proper MLA works cited with your essay.
Use the template below as your essay outline. You should complete the template in point-form. The outline will help you write your rough copy.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1) Top left-hand corner of the first page must have the following (no title page):
a. Your name, student number, teacher’s name, course code and date.
2) Title of your essay must be centered and bolded.
3) Essay length should be approximately 2-3 pages double-spaced.
4) Essay should follow your outline format.
5) Use standard fonts (Times New Roman or Arial, 12 point) and margins (1”).
6) The first sentence in each paragraph should be indented.
7) Pages should be numbered at the top right hand corner along with your last name
(Socrates, 2). The first page of the essay should not be numbered.
8) No folders or duo tangs – staple your essay together.
9) You must also hand your outline and rough copy with your final essay.
