It’s simply the fact that you must have have at least one or more individuals accompanying you with anything you do wherever you go for many reasons. The battle buddy is system is extremely emphasised throughout the military such as in the Air Force they are referred to as “Wingmen, the Navy refers their buddy system as having a “Shipmate”, and in the Army the “Battle Buddy”. The battle buddy system for people in the world is significantly important especially in the US military. It instills teamwork, promotes safety, mutual assistance, support and overall significantly decreases stress within the individuals. All of the new recruits are people from different backgrounds from all over the country so drill sergeants truly have a emphasis to teach the trainees to learn how to not be an individual but to learn how to work with other people during their time in the US Army. Both of the trainees will do practically everything together during their ten weeks of basic training, such as, shooting together, go to the latrine, speak to the drill sergeants, help make each other’s beds, assist cleaning common area, they will be everywhere together unless circumstances change then they will be allowed to have anyone as their battle buddy for the time being. And if a trainee must go to a location that they cannot bring their weapon with them, they must hand their weapon off to battle buddy while they are away. Essentially your battle buddy is an extra set of eyes and ears for you. For example, if you must go to a dental appointment and when you return, your other

Soldiers don’t necessarily have anything wrong with their behavior, however it causes them to be outcasted as rude or impolite. In “Soldier’s Home,” Krebs, the protagonist, talks about how he wants a girl but he doesn’t “want to work for her.”(85) He feels that courting a girl would include having to lie to her about his interests and experiences in order to impress her. This mirrors the way soldiers feel like they have to lie to people in order to gain their interest. Which makes them feel secluded from the rest of the world because they don’t want to lie, and because of this, they have trouble adjusting after coming home.…

For example the soldier is the classmate that doesn't do less or more than is required, he is typically the one proud at making seventies (70’s). At this moment, my little brother, Kelvin, is the soldier. He only does enough to “pass” in order to play football. He does not give his teacher less than is required, nor does he give them more. Another example for the soldier is the classmate who never asks questions, whether they understand or not. Most students have this quality of the soldier; they are afraid of being ridiculed for sounding stupid or they are getting used to a new environment. The final example of the soldier student is the classmate that never complains, no matter the situation. This student never complains whether they were wrongfully graded or not because the result comes out the same. These are the student who believe that effort should be just right; not too little yet not too much, in order to escape notice. Soldiers don’t ask questions, they don’t show off, they don’t complain.
