I have been asked to develop an action plan for Anne Ewers as she moves forward with the ongoing merger of the Utah Opera and the Utah Symphony. A balanced scorecard has been provided for both organizations, and this document will include analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each organization and recommendations that Ms. Ewers can take to address the weaknesses. Additionally, I will analyze the four aspects (including strengths and weaknesses) of the scorecards for each company and finally identify one highly probable issue that could arise during the merger process in the areas of finance, human resources, and customer satisfaction. Recommendations will be made for how the merged company executives can mitigate each of these issues.…

The strategic plan for the first company is to grow 2.5 million dollars. The strategy helps an organization plan long-term actions to achieve the major objectives throughout the company. The key factors in a strategy include the market, product and the organizational development strategic alliance. The weakness of Tina’s plan is that it might not be enough change to drive 2.5 million in gross revenue. She may need more ideas to get her to 2.5 million.…

According to Lester and Parnell (2006), Anita should utilize The Strategic Management Process step number five the Strategy Implementation. It states implement the strategies that have been developed. Make adjustments to the organizational structure, if feasible and relevant. Bill Mitchell had made an impact and inspiration in the community with his dedication. Anita’s primary concern is to increase revenue for the Walton Arts Center. The Board is wanting to review The Mission Statement, Anita has a vision where the Center will be in the near future. Scism wants to keep the same determination from the people of the community. The people in the community want to see new and different art experiences at the Center. Why change things if there’s nothing wrong with it, like the old saying “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” How would you reformulate the Art Center's mission? The change in The Art Center’s Mission would be in the value, we value all children not just the children of Arkansas. Also the Art Center’s Mission, values should reach out to all people and build and strengthen all communities in Arkansas. I believe all people should be given the same opportunities as those in North West Arkansas to benefit of learning through art. Does the Center need a new strategy? Why or why not? No, the Center does not need a new strategy, everything that is going on…
Strategic planning can dictate the success of any organization if properly planned as well as the failure of an organization if not implemented as planned. Strategic planning is all about making choices. It is a process designed to support leaders in being intentional about their goals and methods. Simply stated, strategic planning is a management tool, and like any management tool, it is used for one purpose only—to help an organization do a better job. This portion of the strategic plan will explain why an environmental analysis is important, the major benefits of competitive analysis, economic, legal, and regulatory issues that may affect the strategic plan, and information from the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis findings of Visiting Angels Assisted Living Organization.…

In business there are strategies that need to be fulfilled. Starting a business or health care organization we need to use strategy planning. In the strategy planning of our business or health care organization we need to map out the mission, vision and goals that we want our business or health care organization to meet. My paper is going to be on the Veterans Health Administration strategy planning. This paper will review their internal and external assessments, competitive marketing analysis, identification of stakeholders, an overview and assessments of services provided, competencies and resources, public entities and regulatory requirements, demographics served, strategic financial planning, financial and operational outcomes, current and future directions of the organization.…
In order to develop an action plan for Anne Ewers we need to analyze and understand the financial and leadership strengths and weaknesses of the Utah Symphony Organization (USO) and the Utah Opera Company (UOC). In order for the merger to be successful, Anne will need to create some successful strategies for managing each of these concepts.…
Based on the case description, the main change the Louisa wanted to do was to redirect the current services from fund-oriented to need-oriented. Specifically, whether to shrink, even cut off the youth service department and downsize the workforce development unit, and redirect financial resources to other service areas, in order to better allocate community issues. Also, since strategic planning can be accomplished through a process which focuses on fundamental choices about an organization’s mission, vision and values (Cothran & Clouser, 2006), along with this change, the mission and vision may also need to be updated to suit the change in service…
The Sylvan case study illustrates the challenges of building value and improving business performance through an acquisition and diversification strategy that did not coincide with the capabilities and competencies that originally built the Sylvan brand. Sylvan was founded by W. Berry Fowler in 1979 and during his six year tenure, Berry developed the franchise business model, training and educational programs, and teaching methodology that provided Sylvan with a competitive advantage in the education industry.1 Berry Fowler built his business strategy through an intimate understanding of customers needs and developed Sylvan 's core competencies around providing supplemental education designed to fill the educational gaps experienced by students. 1 Upon Berry 's departure, Sylvan 's new CEO, Douglas Becker, embarked on a corporate-level strategy of related diversification. However, this strategy did not successfully translate into financial economies between businesses nor did it obtain significant market power through these additional levels of educational diversification.2 To that end, this case study will look more closely at Sylvan 's process of diversification and acquisition strategy, management 's leadership as Sylvan transitioned from their founder and the new course the organization charted to address additional challenges for the new millennium.…

To be an effective leader, one needs to set not only the end result but the course involved to get there. One way to set the course and the ultimate destination is to use the process of strategic planning. Strategic planning, when done correctly, necessitates making decisions that will ensure the district's ability to successfully respond to changes, focus on specific goals and plan for sustainable financial and educational viability.…
