To spoil it out, the documentary started with the questionable family tree that Jose Rizal made. It is interestingly noticeable that the branches leading to his mother side, Teodora Alonzo was left unwritten. From this very reason, our thoughts may be saying that Rizal is hiding something about his family. This is also my thinking when I saw the family three, but later on weakened when I’ve seen the facts that Rizal have wrote some information about the family of Teodora Alonzo. (These documents are at the Rizal Library in Ateneo de Manila University). What’s the secret all about? It all started with the quarrel between Jose Alonzo (brother of Teodora Alonzo) and his wife Teodora Formoso. It is when Jose Maria Alonzo, after having travels from Europe came home and knew that his wife is having an affair to another man. So he locked his wife in a room and asked his sister Teodora Alonzo to watch over Toedora Formoso. (Teodora Alonzo was in the side of Jose Maria). When Teodora Alonzo served a food to Formoso, it was not eaten by Formoso and rather fed it to a dog and suddenly the dog died. This is the reason why Teodora Alonzo was imprisoned for two years. She was accused by Formoso that Doña Teodora is trying to poison her. There is also a story that Jose Maria de Alberto had an affair with Saturnina, his niece which become pregnant and give birth to Soledad. To conceal the shame, Saturnina with his mother Teodora Alonzo leave for a long vacation…

The second issue on the retraction system was the most controversial in the movie where they have to decipher whether the signature was authentic or not. From my point of view, a document older than the people today is really a tough job to think upon because at the first place, there were only two priests who were there during the signing and that these two was really determined that Rizal would sign the retraction document. However, the idea that it was falsified would not be removed from my idea because the primary source of the information is a priest who were with the Spaniards and really pushed Rizal to convert in being a Catholic again. So goes with issues that arise that when he was about to be sentence to death, did he really kiss a cross, had a rosary wrapped around his wrist? Or did he not kiss a cross, no rosary wrapped around his wrist?…

In the middle of the movie, it became clear that they wanted to convey their project about Rizal’s retraction. The retraction is a written statement saying that Rizal signed by the priest, who says that Rizal is a returning Son of Catholics. It was probably his participation in Masonry, which is strictly prohibited in Catholic churches. He did it because he wanted revenge on the Spanish use of religion to slave Filipinos. Several issues arise and arguments. They got retraction to explain about Rizal by application of staff in the life of Rizal, were Doña Lolay (mother), Josephine Bracken, Doña Narcisa and Trining (female siblings), Paciano (brother), Father Obach (the priest confessor of Rizal and Bracken), Father Balaguer (one of the priests who worked with Rizal in his last time) and of course Jose Rizal.…

Rizal’s alleged retraction was declared to be true by the friars who were with him before his execution. During the last 24 hours before Rizal will be executed, Jesuits came in and out together with other visitors, including members of his own family. That night Rizal wrote out a retraction based on the formula of Father Pi and signed it about 11:30 pm. The retraction contains two significant points: First: the rejection of Masonry (“I abominate Masonry”) and Second: a repudiation of “anything in my words, writings, publications, and conduct that has been contrary to my character as a son of the Catholic Church.”(Dr Eugene Hessel, Rizal’s Retraction: A Note on the debate, 1965). Father Visa, one of the Jesuit priests who visited Rizal, testified that, “Rizal wrote and signed in his own handwriting in my presence the document of retraction.” His testimony was later on notarized on May 22, 1916. There were also circumstantial evidences pertaining to Rizal’s retraction, for instance, his marriage to Josephine Bracken. Father Balaguer, another Jesuit priest who visited Rizal, claimed that he officiated the marriage of Rizal to Josephine Bracken subsequent to Rizal’s returning faith to the Roman Catholic,…

The movie was an excellent picture of the life of Jose Rizal. The screenplay writers, cinematographers, editors, and the director surely were efficiently prepared in making the movie, as evidenced by the transitions made on every scene: from the real event to the flashbacks, to Rizal’s writings—Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, and how they were so related to his real life—until the execution at Bagumbayan.asdasdasdcdcqd dasdacfdafda a dascdds d asdaa asdcad…

My intention is to give a basic outline of the lovelife story between Josephine Bracken and Jose P. Rizal. So for reasons of this outline and other constraints it will unfortunately be necessary omit some aspects of their story in this outline report. I ask of anyone who believes that anything is incorrect. Then, should it be necessary, it can be amended. I ask that any information that is offered is factually based rather than opinion or rumour. Many Filipinos are unaware of the degree of affection that existed between Rizal and Bracken. The romanticised notion of Rizal as of a Filipino politician during his brief life with women from various parts of the world as his conquest overshadowed the real love and relationship he had with Bracken. Rizal was obviously happy in his relationship with the woman who filled in an emotional need during his lonely and boring days in exile life. Although his family was not happy about the relationship. His deep concern over Bracken is quite evident and revealing in the numerous letters he penned during the later part of his emotional, boring and lonelyness with his love life. Those were Rizal’s efforts to bring josephine bracken closer to the members of his family. Many inaccuracies and rumours relating to their have originated, persisted and been added to ever since first stepped into the stage of their lovelife. Most of these have been promulegate on the paper of evidence, or indeed in the absence of any evidence whatsoever and unfortunately in some cases by personages who really should have known better. To the best of my knowledge there is an evidence that supports the validity of that statement because rizal had been maried with josephine bracken and together they live as man and wife happily ever after.. it appears to have simply been based on deliberately details in a contemporary report yet it was given an apparent posibility by power of the love.…

José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, an important person in the history of the Philippines and an icon that we can find in every history books in our country. We know him as the guy who dated a lot of women, he was short and not that physically attractive as others but he was more than that. Then there’s Rizal’s love life. This is perhaps one of the highlights of the play. Normally when discussing the women that Rizal got involved with, people and authors tend to highlight how noble and selfless Rizal was with the sacrifices he made by leaving these women. It is usually just Rizal’s pain and heartaches that is put into the spotlight. This segment of the play provides a unique and much sadder side to the story; the point of view of the women. I have…

As I watched the movie, the plots of Dr. Rizal’s books, the El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere flashed back to my mind. I noticed similarities in them: Ibarra’s abduction and imprisonment and the undying love for Maria Clara in Noli Me Tangere, and his disguise as Simoun and revenge in El Filibusterismo. Rizal must have a good time reading Alexander Dumas’ obra maestro. Like Rizal, I had a wonderful time-- watching the movie-- as well. And after the movie ended, I was able to give a justification why it was made into a movie. It was indeed a kind of classical story that’s not to be missed in a lifetime.…

The film "Rizal: The Life of a Hero" and "Jose Rizal" are just some of the film formed in the previous period. The workmanship of the two films was so beautiful, so if I were Dr. Jose Rizal I will definitely like it especially the way how they approached the story of his life in putting it into the film. In the film "Rizal: The Life of a Hero" the distinction of this film is based on his written diary since childhood and some of the left letters that he gave to his family and friends. Presented here are some of the great events of his life and the incident gave reason to motivate him to become a hero. Noticed that it almost shown here all of his important achievements in all his life and especially the sacrifices he did for our country. Therefore, this film should only be the first one to watch because as a student I can appreciate it more clearly. As for the film "Jose Rizal", disclosed here that our national hero is truly talented as well as he used his own ability in a good way. It is making two of his famous novel titled El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere. Rizal became a doctor, a writer, a lover, an artist, a genius, a brother, son and a friend. Thus, all of them give high assessment of Rizal’s character. Despite much criticism and anger in him of the Spanish because of his novels made, Rizal still chose to sacrifice his life just to fulfill his desired freedom for the people against the Spanish colonial rule in…
