2.1
I will be describing my project entitled as “Investigation of Structural Behavior of Beam-Column Joints”. I conducted the project during my Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering. I carried out the project from P.E.C University of Technology which is located in Chandigarh, India. Under the guidance and supervision of my supervisor Mr Roshan Lal, I completed this project. I did this project in the final year of my Masters and invested 12 months for this project.
BACKGROUND
2.2
With multiple crack formation, the conventional concrete loses the tensile resistance. With the help of crack arresting mechanisms of fibre, the concrete strength is enhanced. Beam-column joints play a major role so that it should be with proper strength …show more content…
Moreover, I had set some objectives which are mentioned below:
• To examine the characteristics of exterior beam-column joint along with various spacing of connecting ties and different reinforcement details
• To minimise the congestion’s effect on reinforcement in the beam-column joint
• To improve the load-bearing capacity ,deflection, ductility factor, etc. of the structure

I conducted the project alone and therefore; I carried out all the major and minor works associated with the project. In this process, I received mentoring and supervision from my supervisor. The following chart presents my position in the project personnel hierarchy. Fig: Organizational Chart

For the fulfilment of the project, I carried out several works among which some of the major tasks are listed below.
• I analysed and performed a detailed study of the overall project and chose the essential components required for the project.
• I carried out the essential testing required for the experimental …show more content…
I carried out compressive strength tests on a concrete cube of the 150mm×150mm×150mm cast from each batch of concrete. I fulfilled these tests for the inspection of the quality of concretes. Also, Brazilian test was utilized for subjecting a large part of the cross-section of the specimen to uniform tensile stress. I utilized several equations for the calculation of tensile strength of the concrete. Moreover, I carried out the calculations of the quantity of steel fibres for several specimens.
2.11
I worked on the preparation of steel fibrous concrete as well. The uniform dispersion of fibre was very important. Therefore, it was done at the mixing phase before the addition of water. I prepared the fibrous concrete mix for specimens. Also, I worked on the casting and curing of specimens. (ANZSCO CODE 233211: TASK 1)

Moreover, I conducted tests by utilizing hydraulic jacks as well as Universal Testing Machine (UTM). Also, I implemented several other instruments such as mechanical strain gauge, crack measuring instrument, deflection dial gauge and inclinometer. In the project, firstly I tested three specimens; SP1, SP2, SP3 which had the varying detail of the reinforcement. For further investigation, I chose specimen, SP 2. Fig: Detail of
