“True beauty is found not in the exceptional but in the commonplace” Can we find beauty only in rare, exceptional instances or does it truly lies around on us? (topic) Although some people might argue that many commonplace things are beauty, it is the exceptional things that possess true beauty (review the issue). After contemplating the evidence, it is certain that beauty is found in the exceptional, not commonplace. People find true beauty in things that they rarely experience, not the things they experience everyday (thesis). Cathedral of Notre Dame in Vietnam is surely one of the most exceptionally beautiful object. Churches and cathedral line the streets of the most major city in the South of Vietnam. Notre Dame is a stunning example of gothic architecture, famous for the flying buttresses that decorate the sides of the building. The cathedral also has lots of rows of beautiful sculptures recessed into the walls. These characteristics make the Notre Dame one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Vietnam. Compare to other churches or cathedrals, Notre Dame is truly special; all the original building materials were imported from France. Many tiles have been carved in French words and some of the tiles have been made in Ho Chi Minh City to replace the tiles that were damaged by the war. This sort of beauty is not possessed by just any church in the downtown. Like Notre Dame Cathedral, Leonardo da vinci’s Mona Lisa is certainly one of the most exceptional, and beautiful painting ever created. The MonaLisa is acclaim as the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most recognized painting in the world. There have been million of paintings created by skillful artists everywhere around the world, though. Is every single one of them beautiful? Does every one of those paintings have the profound impacts that da Vinci’s does? Of course not. The such true beauty should stand out from the crowd and thus is only found in the exceptional cases.

Two such examples are within The Birthmark and Eye of the Beholder, one as a social construct and one presented as a result of an overbearing husband. The focal purpose of the article ‘Americans get an ‘F’ in religion’ by Cathy Lynn Grossman is to explain how ignorant Americans are when it comes to other religions around the world and their own. Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs; a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons and sects. Being ignorant to something as vital as religion scares the author of this article because religion is not only all of the actualities stated in the preceding sentence but it is what motivates the people around us and why they behave as they do. Additionally, Grossman’s purpose of writing this article is to inform the readers that being ignorant about something that is this heavily weighted is not okay. This article was written in the year 2007; as a result the context has relevance and can still be comprehended and understood the same way today. The reason being that the article can still be construed the same way six years after it was written is because Americans still aren’t as knowledgeable as they should be about the religions of the world, their peers, or their own.…

When you look in the mirror, do you see “beautiful”? Did you know that there’s a kind of beauty that isn’t tangible? Beauty is more than one might think; it is more rare. Those who have seen it know it to be something that cannot be captured by a photograph, it must be told by a story. If it has not been clear yet, beauty is not by any means physical aesthetics, but rather it is the actions that make-up an appealing disposition. Through the centuries, so many have wrongly credited beauty to be a person’s looks. The inevitable problem with that kind of beauty is the ever changing idea of what it is, and how it fails to express true beauty.…

This article writes that the gender pay gap does, in fact, exist. Pearson stated that "life choices" are not enough to make a wage gap because not every woman leaves work to care for children. She mentions how many have to be pushed out due to not being able to afford childcare or not being able to find a full time job. Also that women do not have much of a “choice" but to stay at home due to workplace and outside forces telling them what the “right” thing is. The article also mentions how mothers are less likely to be hired than fathers. The gap is worse for women of other ethnicities. Women entering the same "male" fields continue to make less as men entering traditional women fields…. their wage goes up.…
