A midwife is responsible for taking care for the health or child as well as the mother. A midwife usually works in hospitals and health care settings. They do sometimes do home visits to make sure that the baby and the mother is in good condition. A midwife has many different responsibilities. These include:
- Monitoring the pregnant women to see that her health is good and there is nothing wrong with her.
- Gives support for things such as miscarriage and death babies during pregnancy.
- Gives advice for mothers such as breast-feeding, preparing the milk for the baby and the best position for the baby to sleep.
Career pathways of a midwife:
To become a midwife, you would need to apply to a university that offers Midwifery for three years. The entry requirements for studying midwifery in university are: grades A-C grade in GCSE which include English and science and at least 3

Social worker:
A social worker helps people and also their families who have problems in their lives for example health conditions, child abuse, mental problems, disability problems and behaviours that are not normal. A social worker must make sure that they help people and accept that certain things cannot be changed. A social worker works with homeless, unemployed and mentally and physically ill people. Social workers work with the government in certain prisons, clinics and hospitals.

To become a social worker, you must go to university and study social worker. After that, you must graduate from university as a social worker. The entry requirements for studying social worker in university are: three grade B’s for a-levels and for BTEC National Diploma you must get a DDM.
