On a beautiful summer day, a little girl is home with her sister while their parents are at work, and suddenly the house phone rings. The little eleven year old girl answers the phone and then passes it along to her twenty year old sister. Within seconds, her older sister screams and their lives are changed forever!…
Looking back over the course of the semester, how would you say you have grown?…
Over the span of a week, I underwent growth beyond my classroom experience. I broke out of the shell that restrained my learning ability and realized that learning is like a story. It has multiple sides that are each interpreted differently, but every side should always be examined and…
The American Academy of Pediatrics conducted a survey in 2010 which established that there were only 13,000 Pediatrics Nurse Practitioners in practice at the time. It was noted in the same survey that the majority of that number work in primary care settings. In order to establish role delineation for Nurse Practitioners, The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of American Nurses Association (ANA), conducted a national level job analysis survey. The purpose of the survey was to describe practice expectations and map out performance requirements and environments that Nurse Practitioners must meet to in order to practice. It is the goal of The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to conduct this study every three…
the outcomes-based focuses on producing individuals who can demonstrate the evidence of competencies in designated areas in education. Also, the quality to recognize and improve the nursing curricula to meet current health care challenges is an advantage for all, including stakeholders - students, administrators, colleagues, and patients (Hesook, 2014). It is essential that nurse educators instill in students the standards of quality, safety, and professional excellence of the existing and future challenges in care delivery. For example, teachers sometimes fail to engage students' in the critical thought processes and development of the clinical judgment that students so need at the point of care (Grbach,2011).…
I love the nursing field; there are a variety of nursing specialties. Job opportunities for nurses are endless. A nurse practitioner is a great career choice to choose they also are called NPs. NPs are one of the largest healthcare careers. Nurse practitioners diagnose and treat patients, order tests, do treatment plans, physical exams, immunization shots, and prescribe medications under the direction of the physician. I would love to become a family nurse practitioner. I chose family because I want to work with all different ages groups for example, pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetrics. To become a nurse practitioner, I will first have to earn a bachelor’s of science in nursing and pass the NCLEX-RN. Once I do that, I will be a registered nurse. Next, I will work as a registered nurse to gain experience. Then, obtain a master of science in nursing. Also, take courses in family nursing theory and intervention, acute and chronic illness management, research, primary healthcare concerns and leadership preparation. Furthermore, obtain board certification in family practice through the American Nurses Credentialing Center of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and finally a certified family…
The nursing shortage is nothing new to the United States of America. In this issue analysis essay, the causes that are compounding the nursing shortage are examined as well as the actions taken to prevent the shortage from becoming worse. Past nursing shortage causes and the current causes are studied. Most importantly, patient safety is at risk resulting in medical errors that otherwise would never happen. Nurses are also feeling dissatisfaction within their careers and many nurses across the country do not think positively about their field. It is important that the nursing shortage be controlled before the negative impacts of the deficiency are too great in damage. Together, hospitals, nursing programs, and the government must all work as a team in order to overcome the nursing shortage.…

In my personal and professional identity I expect to be enriched with openness in the mindset of everyone uniting for one cause. To love, accept and support each other in the fight for breast cancer. Finally, uniting and bringing together peace for those who are in combat and letting them know that they are not alone. There are thousands of people who walk and support this cause and it is essential for them to realize that no matter what culture, race, age, gender, orientation, or even political beliefs they are all there to learn and stand for each other. As a current nursing student and future registered nurse I find that this teaching will enhance my care for patients in a holistic perspective, reflecting on myself and past…

Introduction: Henry Peter Broughan once said, "Education makes people easy to lead, but difficult to drive; easy to govern, but impossible to enslave." I believe that education is the key to a successful future. Sadly, I know how people underestimate the benefits of going to college. Tuition can be very costly, but in the end the benefits of education overshadow the tuition. Personally, I know that in the long run my family will benefit from me going to college and becoming a registered nurse. I did not have a role model growing up and I want to be the person my daughter looks up to in her life. There are many health care jobs that will get me some insight on being a registered nurse. Starting off as a certified nursing assistant or licensed…

Because nurses deal with multiple cases at the same time, they must have good organizational, prioritizational, and sound decisions-making skills. These tasks make delivering optimal nursing care much more difficult. These issues have also been studied by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (2005), in order to make essential changes within the healthcare system. Heavy caseloads can make assessing, managing, and treating difficult cases extremely stressful and overwhelming. Achieving an appropriate entry-level education and the training necessary will give nurses the ability to handle the work burden, i.e., the ability to think critically, and proactively advance, the resolution of care for the patients. For instance, Introduction to Nursing Practices will educate the nurses about the basic elements that should be included in giving patient care. Nursing Management is another class that will help nurses with interpersonal skills and leadership. These include to delegating responsibilities, balancing the workload, and to resolving conflicts. This class also teaches the organization structure of hospitals. Among other things, this teaches future nurses how lower costs for the…
