Becoming A Physical Therapist Research Paper
When I took a tour at a physical therapist clinic, it was the moment I decided I wanted to become a pt one day. I have helped people throughout my whole life. I wanted to have a career where I can be a life changing person. My dad had a huge impact on my decision. Everyday he would come from work with back pains. He would always ask me to massage his back. By the time he went to bed, the pain was gone. After every massage, he complimented me by saying that my hands were made for a therapist. My decision was final that I wanted to become a physical therapist in the future.

6102013 Monday 8:00pm Physical Therapist Assistant Program ESSAY 1. What do you believe a physical therapist would do on a daily basis? As a Physical Therapist Assistant, I believe I will be gaining complete handson experience everyday and be kept up with multiple aspects of my job field most of which includes hospital work, childcare, sports training and lastly, elderly care. To be able to interact and converse smoothly would be something crucial especially when being exposed to so many people who have been injured or distressed. I’m convinced the work effort put into the field of study will be fairly intense prior to becoming a PTA. I also know that PTA is growing popular in the demand of jobs. As far as home care goes, I believe that there’ll be a lot of travelling and paperwork involved day to day because of the hands on experience with athome patients and health notes being taken for patients. 2. Why are you interested in pursuing a career as a Physical Therapist Assistant? What appeals to me the most, is the experience, interaction, and care for new people all the time. I like that there will be a completion of an Associate of Science Degree after all hours and courses being finished. There is a yearly income of $40,000 for entrylevel college PTA graduates, the yearly income ranges from a wide variety of pay from $40,000 to well above $85,000 for the most experienced PTA. I also like that there is an immediate chance of me getting hired as an intern shooting straight out of college. Above all, the thing that sets this particular career apart from others is being able to choose whether the job is fast paced or slow paced depending on the branch that suits me best. I’m hoping to pursue and complete all of the above mentioned. 3. What are your experiences with Physical Therapy I’ve had a good amount of situations involving the work of Physical Therapy. My main experiences with physical therapy are being cared for after hyperextending my MCL during football…

The field of physical therapy requires the ability to relate well to people, not only in a physician - patient scenario, but also in the constant interaction with other health care professionals. It aims to restore movement and function, relieve pain, and prevent illness and injury. APTA’s vision for physical therapy “transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience” means differently for every motivated future physical therapist. For me, this vision means changing society by addressing each patient’s needs differently than the next patient. Keeping this notion in mind will help me achieve my goals as a future physical therapist.…

I have chosen the career path to be a Physical Therapist. A Physical Therapist’s job is very detailed and extremely important to the patient’s well-being. Some of their duties include examining patients as they come in to physical therapy, gathering a plan that is going to get them back on their feet, helping them regain strength, ease their pain, and preventing their disabilities from progressing. Two pros of this career, for me, would be examining patient’s data in order to come up with a plan to meet their needs and being able to give medical information to a patient or their family members. Examining a patient is a pro because it’s solely how the patient is going to get treatment. It’s essential to the process because you can’t help the…

I was a junior in high school during basketball season with no plans for college. It was the fourth game of the season with eight seconds to go in the fourth quarter, when I cut down the middle to go up for a shot and ended up on the ground from a player striking the side of my knee. After three trainers and two doctors looked at my knee I got news back that it was an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear, meaning surgery and that I was done with sports until my senior year. After surgery, I had a weekend of rest then started physical therapy. I attended physical therapy three times a week for two hours as well as doing at home exercises. I enjoyed seeing all that a therapist does and how they help people get back to where they were before. I was incredibly grateful for all they did for me getting me ready in time for summer volleyball for my senior year. I started to research all about a Physical Therapist and came across Physical Therapy Assistant, which I found more interesting mainly because it was less schooling. I had decided this is what I wanted to do and go to college for. Once senior year started, I did an internship with the facility I had gone to for therapy. I loved the environment and how the workers all communicated and got along. Getting to help people every day get their range of motion back and watching all the progress they make over the weeks was inspiring and that is what I wanted to see every day in my…

While the word `professionalism' usually refers simply to the quality of being professional, in truth it does not describe a single quality, but rather encompasses many different attributes that together define what a professional is. Throughout my experiences in various physical therapy settings, I was fortunate enough to observe therapists who have not only served as my role models, but have also taught me what professionalism really means. Not only excelling in their duties as physical therapists, every person I've been lucky enough to work with has been kind, accountable, and extremely committed, all of which are traits I have tried to emulate in my work as a volunteer and physical therapy technician. While I observed various displays of professionalism in different physical therapy…

The career path I have chosen to pursue is physical therapy. As I was growing up, physical therapy was not an option I would have considered but ever since junior year, my love for physical therapy has grown and pretty much eliminated all other career options. I had never fully understood what a physical therapist did until I became a patient. In the beginning of my junior year I had torn my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial cruciate ligament (MCL), and medial meniscus while playing goalkeeper in a soccer scrimmage. From this point on, I have been rehabbing my knees because of the multiple surgeries I have had over the past two years. The care and positive reinforcement I received during each appointment made me realize that this job was something I would love to do for the rest of my life. The love of sports really has helped me because a physical therapist is like a coach. They push you to your limit and believe in your ability to recover. The information necessary to finalize my decision is a description of the career itself, educational requirements, employment outlook, typical salary, and how the characteristics of mine would fit this career choice.…
