Beethoven Accomplishments

It has been over 200 years since the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, but his music is alive and excites millions of people, almost as if it was created by our contemporary. Anyone who is even slightly acquainted with Beethoven`s biography and musical legacy, cannot help but fall in love with pieces of music of this composer. Between high ideals praise in his musical works and his life, there was no single abruption. Beethoven's life is an example of courage and persistent struggle against life’s obstacles. Throughout Beethoven’s life, he carried the ideals of his youth, which are liberty and equality.

Beethoven played in the local orchestra and listened to many university lectures. During this time, Beethoven met Joseph Haydn and began taking lessons from him. In order to receive the lessons, Beethoven moved to Vienna where Haydn currently lived. Haydn directed Beethoven for classes to Johann Albrechtsberger. During this time, Beethoven`s undeniable talent to play the piano was what made him shine. In Vienna, Beethoven wrote his famous works: “Moonlight Sonata and the Pathétique sonata” (Ludwig van Beethoven
14 in C-sharp minor Quasi una fantasia" (Moonlight Sonata) and “Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major” (Heroic Symphony). The famous “Moonlight Sonata” of Beethoven appeared in 1801 (The History of the ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, 2012). During this time, Beethoven was going through more than people knew. On the one hand, he was successful and popular, and everything he touched was turning to gold, but on the other his deep feelings tormented him all the way to his core. It was really a terrible time for the composer because his hearing went from very clear and precise to practically nothing. Just as Beethoven was about to give up on life, a young girl named Julie Guicciardi appeared. Julie was seventeen years old, and had a passion for music just like Beethoven did. She played the piano beautifully and became a tremendous student of the great composer. While Beethoven was teaching Julie he began to have feelings for her and eventually fell in love with her (“The History of the ‘Moonlight’ Sonata”, 2012). Julie seemed to be the perfect match for Beethoven because the relationship brought back his joy for life. Because of his love for life again, Beethoven began working on the Sonata, which he called “Sonata quasi una fantasia” (The History of the ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, 2012).
