This is evident in the scene of the party when Juliet Skyes walks in and everyone, peer pressured by Samantha and her friends, starts throwing beer on her until Juliet is forced to flee out of despair and hurt. In the same scene, like a chain effect, with one person starting to chant out “Pyscho,” everyone then joins purely out of peer pressure. Therefore, Before I Fall, explores ideas of value such as peer pressure to inform and convey these values to the reader.
Before I Fall also explores ideas of value such as repercussions. Through the actions of one person, another person is likely to be affected harshly which may result in a drop in self-esteem and confidence as well as a development of anxiety. Samantha Kingston soon becomes to realise the repercussions of her and her friend's actions and begins to reach out to Juliet Skyes as well as her classmates who are shown to be afraid of her in an attempt to gain their trust and forgiveness.
