I. Introduction
What is Values education in our life?
Values has been part of the higher education curriculum as it helps the students to be more disciplined and enhanced their social thoughts and well-being. But students nowadays get bored with this subject/course. Bottom-line? Either no one will pass their midterm paper or 50% of the class just copied and pasted their works, just having the thought that they’ve submitted something to their professor. Trust me it really happens. We really don’t see what values education can do for us. Don’t we? Do we even know what values education mean and how does it affects our life? Yes. Our life, not just our grade but it also affects us as a student. So why students get bored with this subject? Is there something wrong with the subject/curriculum of the school? or it is with the professor? or maybe there is something wrong with us? Let see and wrap things up.
I just want to elucidate what is really meant by Values Education (VE). More specifically it hopes to shed light on the significance and contributions of Values Education to the solution of behavior, discipline and interpersonal relationship problems that can present by the students in their schools. This moves from a panoramic view to a more intensive focus (not unlike we might obtain by looking through our camera focus) on values education in the area of socio-personal development. Values are core traits and qualities that represent an individual’s beliefs and guiding principles, which form the foundation of who we are. Values of people in society differ from one another due to the culture, upbringing, religious beliefs and many other experiences that shape each and every human being. Primarily, values are fundamentally taught at a young age, these values are predominantly learnt from family and friends, the community and through education.
