After reading this chapter, I started to know what leadership from the inside out means. Maharishi said “as long as the outer life is connected with the inner values of being, then all the avenues of outer life will be rich and glorious.” We have been given life since we were born. But, how many of us feel the presence of living? We work hard every day to make a living. We are so tired, but we still pursue something we can’t reach. We set new goals insistently to push ourselves to achieve, but we never stop to think if that desire come from our heart.

In the beginning of the chapter, Peter’s story really impressed me. The disfigured kid said:’ when they get to know the real me inside, they will be my friends.” The real character a people have is much significant than what a people looks like. Socrates has a very ugly face, but the real him is the pioneer of west philosophy system. The real self is so important that everyone must learn to derive self-awareness, and one of the prerequisite we learn from peter’s story is pick up your courage.
According to chapter one, authenticity is the continual process of building selfawareness of our whole person. To my understanding, a people maybe know himself in a phase, but when time and circumstance change, they stop thinking and lost themselves. A Chinese government senior officer was arrested for corruption.
When he was in the court, he contended that when his hierarchy became so high, he lost himself in the privilege and could never find the real him again.
This chapter then talks about exploring belief as belief can lead to our authenticity. We are accessible to our conscious belief, however most time we don’t know we have shadow belief. Shadow belief is manifestations of
