Well if you are one of those people who think being popular in highschool going to help your success after you graduate well I’ll explain why I agree with that statement. Popularity in school does not help you in school accomplishing passing a test but it does help you cheat off someone and help you get your homework done. Popularity gets you known and recognized as a person and helps you earn respect. The reason why I agree with the statement popularity helps you to have a better successful life after you graduate from high school. Basically after you graduate if you were known in school as an athlete , lots of athletes have it easier to get into colleges other kids wouldn’t be able to get in because money issues or grades. Athletes are very popular in highschool and lots of them do not make it to the league but they turn out to have a pretty successful life because they had the opportunity to go off to college and study in major unlike the kids who does not have a good enough gpa to get into college or the money to pay for it. Being poplar helps with having connections in the world it’s a key to success. For example some dropouts are popular in highschool but they still have a pretty successful life if their trying to become a rapper , poet , author, etc.. I used that as my example because if a person is any good at rapping , writing stories/poetry they can get none really quick because they were popular in highschool and they know a group of people who can help spread their work around. Richard L. Worsnop offers multiple different points about high school sports and athletes. Concerns about the oppression of young athletes and debating if high school athletics “builds character”, are some of the main issues pointed out. Some coaches believe interscholastic sports competitions teach everything about character and teamwork, while others believe overemphasizing a win can teach the growth of negative character traits. Meanwhile, there are no doubts that certain drugs can enhance an athlete’s performance, but this can lead to injury and other harmful effects. High school athletes are sometimes considered, “dumb jocks”, which leads to the question if student athletes should maintain a certain grade-point average. Some players think…

Playing a sport definitely boosts confidence. Teens will have confidence in talking to other teens, gives them confidence in playing other sports, and a lot of confidence in achieving the sport they are already playing. Sports make teens quite popular to the rest of the school. Teens tend to see the athletes popular for some reason in high school. That is how it has always been. College sports have become commonly popular in the United States. Despite the fact that some think that sports should never come before grades, they forget to mention the life lessons that sports prepare you for. Even in colleges that are based on mainly education, such as Harvard, they have sports teams that are just as much supported as getting good grades is. The united states is very supportive of college sports which, to me means that those teams not only generate millions of dollars for their school, but they also attractive attention to their college.…

There are a plethora of different kinds of students as kids take a journey throughout High School. The most impactful difference in students is the ones who take their work seriously and care about how they actually perform in school, and the kids who procrastinate and don’t have any motivation to succeed in their schooling. For the kids who do procrastinate, or don’t put any effort into a GPA, it will affect or can affect them greatly after High School, but for the students that do it can definitely help them in their future. According to “Its Time to Tell the Kids: If you don’t do well in High School, you won’t do well in College”. James E. Rosenbaum shares by this saying that he shares the same opinions, that if kids do well in High School kids can be better prepared college and life, whether it’s school work, or in managing everyday life.…

Many people do not realize the importance of high school sports; let me tell a story. There were two completely different kids that went to the same high school. One of them participated in high school sports from Fall to Spring. This kid kept up with his grades and kept busy with sports and homework. The other kid did not participate in any kind of school sports. The kid who didn’t play any sports went home after school every day, so instead of playing sports or doing homework in the free time available, he had to find something else to keep busy. Having all this free time led trouble. There is no need to go into more depth in the story; the point is that people do not realize that high school sports are a crucial part of being a good student…

In high school I studied way more than I let on. I would go home and do homework. If my friends asked what I was doing I would usually tell them that I was playing xbox or something like that. The author states that “many students are ashamed to admit, even to their friends, how much they study.”(Fridman 257) I think that this is true. I have many friends that play sports who do very well in school. These students are the ones who were studying hard. The author also says “Nerds are ostracized while athletes are idolized.”(Fridman 257) This position I do not really agree with. Athletes may have more friends just because they have whole teams to become friends with. Not all of my friends are from my high school. I met most of my friends through sports and sporting events. I personally think that sports are one of the best ways to meet people like you. Nerds, on the other hand, are more idolized by the teachers. The students who get good grades are the ones teachers are proud of. Nerds could have many friends if they would join clubs. The smart kids usually hang out with other smart kids in clubs like Chemistry Club or Math Club where they can…

That being said highschool has changed me a lot more than anything else in my life could ever do. I was independent and had to speak for myself and do things for myself. Coming to the reality that when high school is over there is only me to fend for myself. “Friends” will have to do the same juggling college, work, and other hobbies. Being the captain of the football team won’t mean anything, cheerleading, basketball, even academics. When high school is over, so do you in a sense. You have to work your way back up in college competing with people that actually care about their studies or NFL prospects, etc. Nothing right now will matter 10 years from now. All this occurred to me once I started to work making money which, inevitable, will be the goal for everyone. Sitting in class learning about how to write a memoir and turning in essays will not get me paid. They say work smart not hard but their still are hard workers that don’t want to be cooped up in an office on a computer all day. I am one of those people.…
