The settings of these stories are very dangerous. For example, in “Sound of Thunder” Eckels decided he wanted to go back in time and hunt a dinosaur, which isn’t that great of an idea. There were times where he could’ve gotten himself killed. Also in “Being Prey” Val Plumwood had gotten attacked by a crocodile because she went to a main channel, where she’d been told to not go there. In conclusion, both stories’ settings were very dangerous. The conflicts between both of these stories are somewhat similar to each other. In both of the stories the main characters were the prey. In the story “Sound of Thunder” Eckles went back in time to hunt a dinosaur, but it ended up hunting him. In the text it says “Get me out of here… the monster, at first motion, lunged forward with a terrible scream.” Also in the story “Being Prey” Val was also being hunted. In the stories they both found themselves in trouble when they didn’t listen. Like in the story “Sound of Thunder” Eckels had walked off the path when he was specifically told not to. It says in the text “If you disobey instructions, there’s a stiff penalty of another ten thousand dollars, plus possible government action, on your return.” And in “Being Prey” the park ranger told Val when she first came to not go on the main channel, for it is dangerous. It said in the text “the ranger had said ‘but don’t go onto the main river channel… if you get into trouble there are crocodiles.” So, in conclusion, both of these stories have a very similar
