Biographical information about the author: She was originally born as Chloe Ardelia Wofford on the day of February 18, 1931 in Lorain,Ohio. She is known as an American novelist, editor, and professor. She won the Nobel Prize in 1993 and in 1987 the Pulitzer Prize for Beloved. She entered Howard University in 1949 and a few yaers later she received her B.A. in English in 1953. Toni Morrison began writing fiction as a part of an informal group of poets and writers at Howard who met to discuss their work. She wrote her first novel in 1970 which was called the Bluest Eye. She named it the Bluest Eye because she went to one meetimg with a short story about a black girl who longed to have blue eyes.

Plot Summary: Beloved is mainly about a lady named Sethe who was a former slave.
She lived in Cincinnati, Ohio with her mother-in-law and her kids but she was originally born in the South of Africa. She had four kids but one of them were killed and two of them ran away so therefor she was lefted with her daughter name Denver. She ran away from where she was to a free state. Every since her daughter died she always felt like it was a ghost around her house. Some years has passed and a young girl came too her house and came to find out in the long run it was a daughter that she named Beloved from when she cut her daughter in the throat with a handsaw for refusing not to go back to Sweet Home where she was a slave. The only reason how she found out that she was really her daughter from the stories that Beloved were telling her and Denver and her daughter Denver caught on to
them.
