read. Each week Ben and his brother Curtis had to read one book and write a summary over the whole book. While doing this, Ben learned more and more each day. After Ben and his famlily returned home, his mom would go on alot of little vacations to visit family members and Ben and Curtis would never know when their mother would return. Later as Ben grew up he found out that his mom wasn't going to visit family members. Instead, she was checking herself into a mental hostpital and when she felt better she would check herself out. When Ben first realized he wanted to be a doctor, he was sitting in church. At first Ben thought he wanted to be a missionary doctor, but that of course changed as he got older. By the time Ben graduated he had raised his GPA high enough to be ranked third in his senior class academically. Ben later decided to attend Yale for college. Ben expected to impress everybody in Yale, but when he overheard somebody talking at lunch and found out that they outscored him. While at Yale, Ben met the love of his life, Candy. When Ben graduated from Yale with his pre-med, Candy still had two more years to undergo. Ben decided to go to the University of Michigan and becuase of the long distance Candy and him would write to eachother and they would also visit eachother any chance they could get. When Ben graduated from the University of Michigan he applied for an internship at John Hopkins Hostpital.
Ben was acepted into John Hopkins and moved to Baltimore. Ben spent six yeads at John Hopkins mastering the basics of neurosurgery and conducted research. When Ben completed his training at John Hopkins, the head of his department invited him to stay and serve on the faculty. Ben did decide to stay. While Ben was working at John Hopkins, he learned many things. He also conducted very severe and important surgeries. He was the first person to successfully seperate siamese twins. Not only did he do that, but he also preformed a surgery that had only been preformed once and failed due to complications. Ben would preform surgeries for twenty- four hours sraight with little cat naps while the nurses or the other doctors were working. Ben always relied on the Lord for help and guaisence when he needed it. Every night before a surgery he would pray for the Lord to guide his hands and for him to do the right thing, but most impotantly to keep the person laying on the operation table safe and alive. In 2008, Ben was rewarded the Lincoln Medal for his hard work and determenation. Ben did run for president because he believed that is what t he Lord would have liked for him to do, but unfortunately he lost. Ben Carson is still happilly married to Candy Carson. Together they had three kids, B.J., Murray, and Rhoeyce. He also has few grandchildren. Ben Carson has touched millions with his story of hard work, determenation, and his faith in the
Lord.
