Ben Franklin Aphorism
"Have you somewhat to do tomorrow, do it today." Benjamin Franklin made this statement. It could be interpreted in many different ways depending on how you look at it. Some people see it as though you never know what tomorrow holds. So if you have time to do what that you have to do tomorrow today, then you should go ahead and get it done. For instance, if you have some homework that you know you're going to have to do tomorrow and have time to do it today, you should go ahead and get it done. That way you have more time to do something for yourself tomorrow, which you wouldn't be able to if you hadn't done that homework today. Other people look at it as though tomorrow may never come, therefore you should do as much as you possibly can today. No one likes to admit it, but you all know that death can happen at any time. You never know when you will take your last breath. You should always tell your family and friends that you love them today, for tomorrow you may not be here to tell them or it may be that they are not here for you to tell them how much you love and care for them. No matter which way you look at it, you should try your hardest to get everything you can get done today. You never know what tomorrow may bring. That way you have time to do something for yourself tomorrow. Of all the things this statement could get across to you, just always remember to tell the people you care for just how much you care, for tomorrow you may not be able to tell them just that. Therefore, if you have to do something tomorrow, and have time to do it today, go ahead and get it

I am on the side of Benjamin Franklin because we have to take matters into our own hands to break free from Great Britain. We have tried multiple times trying to break free from Britain and we can’t just think that King george will stop his ways. Just as Patrick Henry said “Give me liberty or Death” we will should fight to get our freedom even if matters go to violence. If people join the Loyalists then they are breaking the dream of our great country the United States of America. This is also breaking the dream of our great president George Washington.…

If I was to die today, what will my children have to say about me? Would my family cry because of the pain of losing me today? Perhaps for the pain of not having me tomorrow? Maybe it would be both, only if I was so lucky to have acted good with them, continuously. How long will it take my wife to remarry? Will that other person be better or just different? On and on through different tangents, the main point is this: I cannot let tomorrow be the starting point of my actions. Any action, word or expression, need to be done today while I am still alive and able to tell my family that I love them, that I care for them, and that they will be in my heart and soul, throughout time and…

The reason that I chose the quote above is because it is something that I strive to become. One of my skills in life is my skill as a writer. My talent as a writer has gotten me a 600 on the writing SOL. For me, Alexander Hamilton is something as a role model. His skill as a writer really inspires me. Hamilton’s work ethic is something that I want to have. This quote is important to me, because I want to be like Alexander Hamilton, I want to be seen as a human word machine.…

Morrie aphorism “What if today were my last day on earth?” (p. 64) made me think. When Mitch said that to Morrie it made me think about it too. Since Mitch knew already that Morrie was going to die soon, it made him think about it too. I have to say that if someone ever mentioned something like this in a conversation it would make them think about it because thats life. Like Forest Gump said a movie that almost everyone uses “Life Like A Box of Chocolates” because you don't know what you’re going to get which relates to this in a way because you dont whats going to happen to tomorrow basically you don't know what the future holds for you. You might not even wake up because one cannot for tell the future. Anyways the aphorism has been true to me because no one would want to talk about their last day on earth, they just want live and enjoy life because this is one in a lifetime. I also feel like i can feel how they are feeling when Morrie and MItch are having a conversation and that comes up. Like what if today was my last day on day ,how would I act or say. I can speak for about everyone when i say everyone would be scared if they thought today was their last day on earth. Personally I will be terrified especially…

Moving forward, I will first discuss my interpretation on the quote “when I want to decide what is happening today or try to decide what will happen tomorrow, I will look back.” In my opinion, this means that in order to decide what I will partake in, or do, today and tomorrow, I will probably have to refer to previous days in the week or month to help me make my decision. For example, I’m required to attend my jiu-jitsu classes at least three times a week so if I attend Mondays class and don’t attend yesterday or today’s class, I have to decide what two days out of the four left in the week will be the most available for me to go to class. My past decisions on what days I attended will affect how many days I attend for the rest of this week.…

In the old days people died left and right because of many reason so it was important to carpe diem. They couldn’t look to the future because they didn’t know if they were going to have one. They also couldn’t look to the past because it was full of death and pain so it might depress them. The ones who were alive were just happy to see the sun in the morning. Someone from the past used to say procrastination is the thief of time so do it today and live each day as though it were your last. You have one chance at life and don`t want to have regrets about what you could have done.…

As a child, decisions like finishing homework during free time or choosing to procrastinate for the last minute often arise, and the adolescent would usually chose the latter. This situation is one of the common, least life changing ones dealt by many people, while other predicaments can be on a more serious not, like choosing between what is moral and immoral. These accounts show that throughout life, situations arise and one has to think about how they should deal with it to approach a resolution. It might be easier to do what “we want to do” rather than doing what we “ought to do,” and take “the one less traveled by” as Robert Frost might say. These decisions must be made, no matter the size of the problem or the amount of effort. Through history, the arrival of choices between right and wrong make a large impact on how lives plan out.…

If Tomorrow Never Comes If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly, and pray the Lord your soul to keep. If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss, and call you back for just one more. If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would tape each word and action, and play them back throughout my days If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra minute or two, To stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming you know I do.…

    Art of Setting Goals

The issue is that when we are consumed by our goals, we focus on the future rather than being present to what is around us. Life seems like a sacrifice. We become stressed as we work hard towards our goals. Life doesn’t flow effortlessly and we feel guilty for not keeping up with our promises to ourselves. And to make matters worse, because we are so focused on our future goals, we often miss “hidden” opportunities that would bring us even greater success and happiness.…

    hundred years

A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying.…

The reality is that people really are concerned about what will be but they tend to forget that NOW is more important than what will be. In the words of Tolle, the purpose of life is two-fold – primary purpose and secondary purpose. Primary purpose doesn’t involve time. It is to be here fully to align yourself in this moment and to realize that wherever you are is what are you supposed to do; and whatever you are doing right now is to do what you are supposed to do. Human beings are living in great despair because they are not aligning themselves with the now. Think and act in the now. Live a life which is aligned to now.…
