Ben Mikaelson was born and raised in La Paz Bolivia. When Ben was growing up, he was not good at writing but he still lived to. He even said “My handwriting looks like worms had mud wrestled on the page.” But one day Ben was told to see his teacher after class, the teacher told him that your story
had 5th grade level grammar and writing, he fearfully told him if I should drop out of your class. The teacher said Oh, No, No, No, No, the teacher just got done saying that he’s read 100 stories and yours was the only one that made me laugh and cry. He told Ben that was writing and that he did it. Ever since that moment, Ben wrote more and more and every time he wrote, he got so much better. When it came time for Ben Mikaelson to go off to college, he finally knew what he wanted to do with his life, he wanted to write. Eventually Ben realized that the heart of his story was nature and this is why most of his books are based off of nature. He traveled all over the world to go to schools and teach about his background and his writing. He became a full time writer in 1984 and started winning major awards. When he wrote the book, Touching Spirit bear, and he won the award of for the best Juvenile fiction book. Ben Mikaelson was the son of 2 Missionary parents, of Danish Descendants. He was bullied a lot for his race and his poor skills to speak English. He attended Concordia College in Bemidji state. After college he went to live with his wife in Montana and his Black bear, Buffy. In conclusion Ben was a Bolivian American Literature children’s author. He was born and raised in La Paz Bolivia. His teacher basically inspired Ben to write even more. He traveled around the world to tell about his background and to share his book work. When he wrote touching spirit bear, he won the award for the best Juvenile fiction book. He had 2 Missionary parents, and he attended Concordia College and when he was done with college he lived out in Montana with his Wife and his Black Bear, Buffy.
