“Researchers from the Yale School of Medicine and several British universities published a paper in the British Medical Journal titled “Where Is the Evidence That Animal Research Benefits Humans?” The researchers systematically examined animal studies and concluded that little evidence exists to support the idea that animal experimentation has benefited humans explains PETA” ( Animal Testing Is Bad, 7)
The details they share with the public are that is could possibly lead to a cure, but a cure is the last thing that some of these scientist are really thinking about. Animals are so unreliable so they cause human trials to be so much more risky. Even today people are …show more content…
The U.S. Department of Agriculture characterizes sellers. Class A dealers are the individuals that sell the purpose-bred animals. Class B dealer’s attain these animals through animal shelters, auctions, newspaper ads, and other sources. Some states have laws that require animal shelters to give up their animals for animal testing; this practice is known as pound seizure. Although not every state has this law, if this law is not intact they leave it up to the shelter or neighborhood. The estimated amount of animals that are used in tests, research, and education is more than 25 million animals that have a vertebra or back bone. The most frequent animals that are used which are stated by The Humane Society of The United Statesare as follows: “mice, rats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, dogs, primates, and cats” (4).Mice and rats are neglected from burn experiments, psychological, and toxicology tests. The toxicology tests slowly poison the mice and rats to death, the psychological tests cause fear, anxiety, and of course the burn experiments cause pain, sadness. Dogs, also known as a man’s best friend, are favored over all the other animals. Dogs are force-fed or injected with poison, left in a cage to slowly die. Animals have rights just as humans do and clearly this statement by PETA proves how individuals want to control and torture them “At Ohio State University, vivisector George Billman forced surgically manipulated dogs to run on a treadmill until they collapsed from a heart attack.”(Dogs in Laboratories, 6) Not only are these tests inhuman but a waste of time considering most of them fail the human
