Benefits Of Immigrants
There are many different reasons why immigrants come to the United States and other places. Immigrants can be beneficial to us or they can cause problems. A major benefit of immigrants is that most come to work which helps the economy grow. These workers range from people helping in the agriculture fields to specialized professionals and businesses. These legal immigrants also help the country by paying taxes, new ideas, and helping the economy. However, immigrants can cause big problems that sometimes over power the good. One of the biggest fear of immigrants is the possibility that the people coming across the border are criminals. Some believe that the rules on immigration are not strict enough and it can cause bad illegal immigrants are

Despite this, we must not lose sight of the fact that immigrants provide America with many advantages. The richness and diversity of their cultures, for example. Also, their willingness to work hard and take on certain jobs that Americans would otherwise refuse - at least at the same wage level. They provide a supply of willing labor for those industries which are in need. Americans benefit from the goods and services that their inexpensive labor allows.…

Benefits and costs of authorized immigrants to workers, consumers, and the economy are varied. Authorized immigrants have the ability to come to the US and make higher wages than they usually can in there home country. With the legality of their working here they will still pay taxes, and abide by all US laws. This allows for firms to hire workers that will do many of the undesirable jobs most people would not want to do, or are over qualified to do without forcing the firms to operate in the "black market." Labor consumers get benefits that they have more options available to hire. Authorized immigrants could have more specialized education in industries/fields that are not as apparent or as developed in the US. This leads to benefits in the economy as a whole as some of the specialized fields could lead to whole new industries in the US, which equates with more job availability. Along with this, the economy will have a whole new demographic of workers to choose from for hire. The diversity that comes from it can only be beneficial, making the market more competitive overall. Costs of authorized workers are pretty much few, but they are big ones. Some problems question American pride and ability. Some ask, "Why do we need foreign workers in the US anyway?" We are self-sufficient and do not need them regardless if they are legal or not. Although there are benefits many people are against even authorized workers. This causes some problems among workers, there can be tensions between the native-born and foreign-born. Consumers of labor can have problems because with authorized foreign workers sometime firms are required to hire certain races/ethnicities. The only problem being with that is that a firm might be forced to hire a less qualified, productive worker just because they are a certain ethnicity. Costs to the economy as a whole is that some American funds, such as wages made by workers on Visa's are often sent home to another country to support one's family…

In conclusion, I strongly feel that Americans could greatly benefit from adopting some of the immigrant customs discussed in The Immigrant Advantage. Kolker herself could be used as a role model or example for how a family could benefit from some of these traditions, from the money saving habits of the Money Club to the ease of dinner preparation using the Com Thang. I wholeheartedly plan on attempting to make use of available family members whenever it comes time to introducing my child to the world. The knowledge and love that an older family member would be capable of introducing into our home could easily prove invaluable. I also hope that by the time that my children are entering into their college years that I would be able to provide…

Immigrants have the existing ability to enter the U.S with certain risks and restrictions. There are complications about motives and the legality as well as the consequences for these if they are caught. There is a difference between immigration and being an illegal alien. Most people who travel to this country have good reason to continue to stay, whether that reason be for family, work, war or otherwise. The real danger that concerns the border should come from the harmful contraband that is imported and exported from the country. Instead we blame crime rates, and the taking of American jobs on immigrants who are employed in businesses that impact our economy; who live in small cities, and work for small wages. With an increase in population there is bound to be slightly more chaos than typical but that is not a direct…

I agree that having a diverse group of worker brings many benefits. Immigrant works help both the economy they are working in and the economy they come from. The immigrants will work for less which helps companies spend money on improvement for their companies. The workers then send some of the money they make back to their family in their home country which helps stimulate that economy.…

Immigration has caused many concerns for Americans, as this is an ongoing issue that is very controversial. Many politicians argue that an open door policy creates a higher rate for crime and threat upon the U.S citizens. For example, “The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States suggest that loose immigration policy can allow enemies of the country in too easily” (Unit 8 Lecture 1: Immigration). Also, many claim that allowing immigrants into the United States harms the economy, especially with unemployment. Certainly this can be a downfall to an open door policy; as immigrants are assuming jobs that Americans could fill. I also thought this was a big disadvantage because business will be more willing to hire the immigrants…

Immigration is good for the economy. Despite all the fuss about immigrants stealing jobs, immigration actually provides a benefit to the economy, whether those immigrants crossed the border legally or not. Why you ask? Because of what economists call the specialization of labor. As Jonathan Hoenig, proprietor of the Capitalist Pig blog, explains: “The fact that foreigners are eager to pick crops, clean houses, bus tables and produce allows more of us to afford cheaper food and better services, affording us even more wealth to enjoy and invest. It’s not the immigrants, but the taxes, spending and entitlements (most of which immigrants don’t even receive) that have drained the economy dry.”…

First, my mom and I have a belief that immigration has a positive effect on the United States economy. Immigration has a positive effect on the economy, and some reasons are because they are risk takers, entrepreneurs, and industry boosters. Immigrants are risk takers that come to a country in where they do not know the language or culture, but their gamble pays off as economically the need for produce grows. For my mom immigration also has a positive result as many immigrants become entrepreneurs, and create businesses that create jobs. The economy grows as industries know new immigrants need to start from zero, and need to buy industrial products to…

Immigration occurs because of two main factors, these are jobs and relatives. People might leave their country because of wars and poverty. The United States has one of the most open borders in the world, taking in around 700,000 immigrants a year. Can you imagine an increase in your income seven to ten times by making a dangerous illegal journey to another land? Would the trip be worth it? Should family be taken along? These are common opportunities and challenges faced by Illegal Immigrants coming into the United States. Why they come, how they come, and what they do once they arrive are common issues these immigrants must deal with in order to reap the rewards of what they believe to be a better life. United States does not have a complete open border, however, and regulates who can come, from where, and in what numbers. Although the United States attempts to controls who enters the nation, thousands of people a year from all over the world break U.S. immigration laws and enter illegally. The INS estimates that over five million illegal immigrants live in the United States. Illegal immigrants travel to the Uniteds States by sea, land, or air. Sea travel is especially dangerous, but traveling by land also involves danger. Many illegal immigrants from Mexico, for example, drown in the Rio Grande River while trying to cross into Texas, others found death when triying to cross the All American Channel to reach their freedom into the United States. Those crossing the rural areas of California and Arizona face treacherous mountaisn and deserts. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, in 1998, 145 illegal migrants died from dehydration in these desolate areas. In San Diego County, some immigrants die in fires resulted by their own campfires. Some illegal immigrants stole the passports of legal migrants and try to use them as their own. Immigration officers are rarely fooled by this actions because of…

Today in America the topic of immigration; the act of moving from one country to another country for permanent residence, comes with a negative connotation. And it is because of issues like these that many Americans question the benefits of immigration. If this is true the question we should be asking ourselves is does immigration contribute to a better America? The answer; although clouded by several fears and, is and should always be a bold faced yes.…
