Running outdoors is a great way to run, jog or run on a trail or park…
It took some time, but eventually running became such a big part of my life that I felt incomplete when I didn’t do it. And it’s not just the benefits of running that I enjoy, although there are many. I’ve lost weight. My blood pressure is down. My energy level is up. I look better. I feel better. I sleep better. But on top of all that, I actually love getting out and running. It’s a great excuse to get outside (or into the gym if that’s your preference), listen to music, or just enjoy the…

Running requires hard work, but add in ten miles or more a day at seven minutes per mile pace with hills, the run becomes extremely harder. Not only do I have an intense runs day after day, but I have also completed hard ab exercises everyday to excel my running performance. I learned that running performance can be affected by eating habits, so I abstain from junk foods to achieve maximum running capabilities.…
Choosing the right exercise program is the easiest part. If you like the outdoors then walking may be the right choice. “A brisk Walk is nearly the perfect exercise” (“Health Prescription” 2001). Dr. Mason explains in Harvard’s Women’s magazine, stretching before any exercise is important (“Health Prescription” 2001). She says, walking can be done in many different ways and the most effective way is a long thirty-minute walk (“health Prescription). If walking is not intense enough then cardio is a good choice. “When it comes to fitness fads that have swept across America over the past 50 years, cardio is the king” (Newsome 2012). A good form of cardio is running. “ Do you love the feel of running in the great outdoors yet worry about the bad press that running sometimes gets. There are precautions you can take” (Carerra 2012). “Running allows you to be connected with your thoughts and the increased heart rate and endorphin response of recruiting your entire body into the movement is uplifting, invigorating, addictive”( Carerra 2012).…

I think that the best exercise that would suit me best would be light jogging and walking on the treadmill. I really like taking walks and I enjoy light jogging. I also think some aerobics would also help me as well. I would really like to get to a gym. I think if I had a trainer or somebody to get me motivated it would really help me. When I was in high school I enjoyed gym class because I had a teacher to motivate me to run a mile every other day. I also had friends to run with me. If I took my sister to the gym with me I think she would really motivate me. I could do these activities year round at a gym. I would not run outside in the winter because it gets way to cold and I do not like the cold. I could do these activates at a gym though year round.…
My mother and I have ran lots of 5ks, 6ks and triathlons over the years. My mom says that it is not like any sport, it distracts you from everything around you can run wherever you want whenever you need it. “ It relaxes you” my mom says. Almost everywhere my mom and I run even on vacation. Both my mom and my dad have ran for more than twelve years and still compete in many races. My mom when she was in college got lots of 1st place trophies and ribbons. She used to be like a cheetah beating people left and right. She was on the track team all through highschool and college beating people. She also, did one marathon and will make sure I will do one too.…

“Every day is a good day when you run.” Kevin Nelson, who wrote The Runner's Book of Daily Inspiration, could not have been envisioning the mercurial weather of Rhode Island. As a three-sport athlete in Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track, there is a certain commitment that one must have to be able to compete year-long in New England. Runners will often sugarcoat their feelings about running by saying it’s thrilling, satisfying and even fun. Although it can be personally fulfilling, it takes a lot of hard work, determination and perseverance to be an accomplished runner.…

During my first three years of cross country, I was always content with just being an average runner. Despite my intense dislike for running itself, I enjoyed the health benefits that running offered,…
Being that I was always considered a chubby kid during my adolescence and preteens, I was very surprised when a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to join the cross country team with him. My first thought was, “Yeah, right”, but I decided to give it a try. That was one of the best decisions of my life. I played many other sports, but the running was never my strong point. However, during my first cross country season, I quickly learned to love the sport of running. Running gave me confidence I never had. I learned to step out of my comfort zone and push myself beyond my own limitations. There were also many unforeseen benefits to running. I found it to be a great stress reliever and it brought me to…
Most people don't choose to run for their enjoyment, but I do. It releases some of my frustration when I run. I am 2,250 steps away from the finish line when I begin. I can run all year long. I can run in the winter, the spring, the fall, and the summer. I believe in cross country. Cross country is the best sport ever.…
