Benefits Of Transition Homes
Each year 25,000 youth exist the foster care system. These teenagers often have limited sources with secure housing. Although there are already some transition homes created for the purpose of taking them in and educating them of the necessities to thrive and survive the real world. This world is a scary place, especially to those who have been sheltered until aged out. I propose we create more transition homes in the state of Alabama. In these transitional housing we need to strictly teach them how to get a job, budget and pay bills. Instead of their parents paying for the housing they should pay by either contributing with money or with chores. That will prepare them for when they have houses or apartments of their own. Creating safe and
loving environments to those who have aged out of foster care will not only be crucial to their future, but it will also lower their chances of turning to human trafficking or becoming homeless.
