After Mulholland’s aqueduct operation was done, the World War I began. Since the United States was busy to settle down and controlled the urbanization, US should had been remained neutral. However, to be prepare the surprise attack, US wanted to be able to protect themselves. During the World War I, it was the best time for US to promote more trade and expanded their market toward the world. To do so, federal governments granted money for developing ports and facilities. According to Josef W. Konvitz, through the expansion of shipping, the great port cities acquired a significant manufacturing sector, including shipbuilding, and met the needs of their growing population for food and energy supplies (Konvitz 293). It was true that it was part…
Donald L. Niewyk’s fifth and sixth chapters both deal more with outside perspectives and outside reactions than it does with those who were persecuted. The fifth chapter, “Bystander Reactions,” offers four different arguments as to why bystanders acted they way they did during the Holocaust. The sixth chapter, “Possibilities of Rescue,” discusses three different viewpoints on what foreign governments could have done to prevent the Holocaust. These two chapters conclude Niewyk’s book The Holocaust and wrap up the final sequence of events surrounding the Holocaust and the camps.…

If someone attempted to rape you, fail to succeed, and then beat you, what would you do? Go to the police and risk nothing coming of an investigation? Pretend it never happened and sweep it under the rug, just to manifest in your later years as perhaps a mental illness or PTSD? I believe that Bean going to a lawyer and pressing charges was the best way to handle this problem. Why? Well, because Jerry Maddox needs to pay, the town needs to know, and Liz needs justice.…
Benjamin Franklin used the experiences of his daily life to write astronomical and astrological information needed by European countries during his oversees stays. In his autobiography, he also expresses the fact that one must do whatever it takes to make his or her dream come true. His writings were influenced by the calamity of the Revolutionary War and also by many of his colleagues, especially David Hume. Mr. Franklin’s home and school are brought up numerous times in his writing amplifying the fact that he never forget about the events and education that he received…
Elizabeth C. Stanton was born in Johnston, New York. As a lawyer, Stanton’s father did not have a need for slaves thus creating the anti-slavery sentiment. Stanton was informed of the abolitionist, and women’s rights movements through her cousin, Gerrit Smith. Furthermore, her husband Henry Stanton was a lawyer who dedicated his knowledge to reforms present in the mid 19th century. Being surrounded by reformers had a great impact on Elizabeth C. Stanton as she used her knowledge from Willard’s Troy Female Seminary to further become a women’s rights activist.…
The Seven Years’ War started in 1754. It was between Prussia, Britain and Hannover that fought against Austria, France, Russia, Sweden and Spain. It was fought in America, Europe, the West Indies, the Philippines, Africa, and on the ocean. There were two reasons for this war. Firstly, there was a serious rivalry between Britain and France about the colonies. Secondly, Prussia and Austria fought over Germany. It was during this time that Benjamin Franklin said, “All people agreed on the need for union, but their ‘weak noodles’ were ‘perfectly distracted’ when they attempted to agree on details.”…
I am on the side of Benjamin Franklin because we have to take matters into our own hands to break free from Great Britain. We have tried multiple times trying to break free from Britain and we can’t just think that King george will stop his ways. Just as Patrick Henry said “Give me liberty or Death” we will should fight to get our freedom even if matters go to violence. If people join the Loyalists then they are breaking the dream of our great country the United States of America. This is also breaking the dream of our great president George Washington.…

Freedom is not something that anybody can be given; Freedom is something that people take and people are as free as they want to be. Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, states, "Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." Basically, Franklin is saying that in any circumstances mankind should not forget about the most important thing in the world - freedom. Freedom is when people have the opportunity to pursue happiness without any barriers. Freedom "gives" happiness because the state of being free is aligned with our true nature. The more you are aligned with your true nature, the more you are well. To simplify this, I would say if we have freedom - we have happiness; if we lose freedom we lose happiness as well. I believe people are only able to value it, as far as they can acknowledge how much it's important to them. I really love and appreciate the opportunity to be happy, that’s why I totally agree with Benjamin…
Thomas Jefferson had many talents and knowledge, he was very wise. Thomas was a man of his time but at the same time he was hypocrite. He believed in the abolishment of slavery yet owned slaves. He believed that there should never be any interracial marriage yet he had relations with a slave woman. He also believed that whites were the superior race yet he praised the Native Americans. Thomas Jefferson had many accomplishments but that doesn’t overshadow the fact that he was a hypocrite. He believed that slavery shouldn’t be allowed but he didn’t do anything about it. Thomas Jefferson actually owned slaves with the thought that slavery shouldn’t be continued. Thomas Jefferson had many great achievements but his actions make him look like a hypocrite.…
I feel like the first sentence of Earl’s statement is true because those two-thirds of adolescent and adult usually start drinking at a young age. That would make it easier for them to get attached to alcohol . Having people take a written test just to get a drinking license could help but it wouldn’t help as much. I also think that stores would lose money because not everyone that drinks is going to have a drinking license. I disagree with Earl Rochester argument.…
