For this class, I have participated in the class discussion in a somewhat unorthodox way. As a distance student, I have difficulty speaking in in-class discussions but I do the best I can. I listen respectfully to other students' remarks and arguments within the class and make note of them to aid my studying for the final exam. I pose questions out loud and find answers within the lectures, the textbook or even Google. My favorites were Erin Brockovich, My Cousin Vinny and Legally Blonde, with Ocean's 11 earning an honourable mention. These films have shown to apply various legal concepts in a, if somewhat exaggerated, real life scenario. For instance in My Cousin Vinny, Vinny Gambini proves that his clients are not responsible for murdering the clerk of Sack-o-Suds by showing eyewitness misidentification. To elaborate, he uses his newfound knowledge on grits to show that an eyewitness was mistaken in his measurement of time during his testimony.
