In Beowulf, Beowulf is a great, honorable warrior who battles with a monster named Grendel. The characters in Beowulf demonstrate bravery, honor, courage, and loyalty. Grendel is told from the point of view of the character, Grendel. In Grendel, the reader feels sympathy towards Grendel because he lives in isolation. He wants to be part of something. He does not understand what the world is like. “I was Grendel, Ruiner of Meadhalls, Wrecker of Kings! But also, as never before, I was alone. “(Grendel, p. 80). Grendel makes this statement when he realizes that his condition has not improved and he wants to be part of this world that he does not fit in.
