Berkley Monologue
His miserable face turned to me. His bleak eyes seemed to stare into my soul, and his mouth was poised, ready to devour. Berkley stood opposed to me, his once prideful demeanour gone. His mouth opened and closed before choosing to remain sealed. His navy jacket lay torn at the sides, the bright logo of AreLive still plastered on the side. How ironic, I thought, for his dream of creating a new Oregon. I attempted to speak, but my throat suddenly felt very dry. We stood like this, looking at the other, observing each other’s every movement. My hand twitched towards the inside of my coat, but I chose to remain put. In the end, he spoke.

“How?”, his raspy voice questioned. The sound sliced the silence in half. “How did you know it was me?”. His eyes narrowed evilly towards me.

I stood put, in front of his overbearing demeanour. I looked him straight, watching sin, greed, pain, anger and misery flicker eruptively through him. He was a confused man, who wanted an emotion to settle on. It was just too bad he couldn’t find one. “You hid quite well”,

Then, he laughed detachedly, tears spilling from his eyes. His body shook madly, his gun loosely hanging off his fingertips. “I’m a madman. I really am. You knew I was. Everyone knew. But who would’ve known, that I would be the last to know”, he howled wildly, his head hung and his body limp. He had lost the last strings that connected him to Earth. The monster in front of me had lost its last scraps of humanity. He was inhumane and lost in his insanity. He stopped shaking and fell backwards like a kite which had its string cut. He regained his bearings and sanity for a last and final moment. His eyes cleared, and he broke free from the bindings that bound him.

“As for my reasons… they die with me”, he responded, duty and determination lacing his voice. He staggered, losing his footing along with his remorse, before he pulled his gun towards his chest, and with a final, pointed look, pulled the

"I'm going for a walk." The sound of his wife's tear-filled accusations rang in Jarrod Levy's ears as the thirty-five year old Jarrod Levy pulled on a coat, exited into the cold night air, and slammed the front door behind him. Another argument, one of many they'd had in the three months since they'd move across the country for his career, and he'd had to get out of there before his anger and frustration took hold, causing him to say something he'd regret. The words they'd exchanged, ones he knew he'd regret in the morning, had already been enough.…

    John Edelman Monologue

    • 4 Pages

In the small, peaceful village of Rhinebeck, where tourists and travelers from all over the country venture through, a wooden cottage stood just off of Main Street. Within the cottage lay a middle aged man by the name of John Edelman. His short, scruffy beard had begun to remodel itself into a plain of grey, and his once youthful olive skin had turned pale with creases around his eyes and mouth. Most villagers, if asked about John, would have nothing but positive remarks. Kind, quiet, and caring, he often engaged in projects to improve the community, and had come to the aid of many friends.…

It was a cold winter day in the town of Budville. The sky was a leaden grey, heavy with snow. The ground was blanketed in a thick layer of frost, sparkling like countless diamonds under the dim light of the morning sun. Maria, a young girl of ten or eleven, trudged through the snow, her breath forming tiny white clouds in front of her face. She wore a thick fur coat and mittens, her scarf wrapped tightly around her neck to protect her from the bitter cold.…

    Brentwood Monologue

    • 473 Words
    • 2 Pages

Today I left Brentwood, the psychiatric hospital that I was at since the 7th, and it was one of the longest weeks I've ever experienced in my life. I couldn't have my phone, which killed me because of how attached I am to it, and I didn't get to let a lot of people know that I was about to disappear for I don't know how long. But anyway while I was there one of the nurses mentioned to me that her daughter kept journals about her everyday life, what she went through and that she'd look back to see how she's progressed or maybe even be reminded of some happy memories. so I thought that would be a great thing for me considering I forget so much of my past…
