Berlin's Rivalry During The Cold War
The Cold War was strong rivalry and conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union. During this war there was a lot of struggle especially with political differences. Now, Berlin was a likely spot for trouble to develop during the cold war. This was for many reasons.
Berlin was a critical area in Germany. Earlier in about 1948, the United States was fighting with the Soviet Union for Germany. While their goal was to keep each other week and divided. But later France, Britain, and United States decided to withdraw from Germany when this happened the Soviet union took action and held Berlin hostage. So even though Berlin was within the Soviet power in Germany it was still very divided. The soviets were starving Berlin and cutting off

    In his short story "The Chrysanthemums," John Steinbeck writes of a married couple and examines the psychology of the unhappiness in their marriage.
