In the beginning the reporters (??) were talking to a woman who sells fruit cakes and tortes. She told them what happens to the cake when nobody bought them before the best before date. They just scratch the fruit or the cream off and cut in in a half and add new fruit or cream. Then they “won” a few days and can change the best before date. The reporters send some samples of those tarts and cakes into a lab and when they got the results it emerged (?????) that the mold on those cakes can cause cancer and other diseases. If the wrapped meat past the best before date and got brown, they took it out and coloured it with red paint so that it looks fresh again. They just changed the best before day and no one would notice it. For ground meat it was even easier, brown meat got mixed with new, red meat with the result that the mixture at the end looked fresh again. Another method to hide the odour of the rotten meat was to marinate it and sell it for even more. The lab results showed that the meat was already full of bacteria after it passed the best before day by only one day. Thus, there is a huge risk of selling it too.
At last some stores also cut off the moldy parts of vegetables and fruits and sell the rest of it. However, the customer believes that it is a fresh vegetable he is going to buy.
