Best Buddies Research Paper
My name is __________. I was born in Bismarck, ND. In high school I was the president of a club called Best Buddies that placed high school students with peers that had intellectual disabilities. My work with Best Buddies made me want to become a special education teacher. I was awarded a scholarship through our sponsors to pursue that dream, but shortly after I married my husband he was stationed at Laughlin Afb in Tx. At that time I decided to stay at home with my infant daughter. I loved watching her grow, so when she was 2 1/2 I started working at the Child Development Center on base as a 2 year old aide. I fell in love with working with 2 year olds. The part I loved most was how eager they were to learn. Everything was exciting and

William Deresiewicz makes compelling suggestions in his article "Faux Friendship." His ideas and modernized definitions on the truth behind the word "friend" makes a good argument though it is strictly through his perception and analysis. He demonstrates the idea that in this era we have changed how we perceive one another from the way it use to be. Deresiewicz uses a claim of value in his article, evaluating the diminishing bond of what we call a friend in today's society. He implies that the word is loosely used and has lost it's worth. When something is plentiful and everyone has many, the value of that item goes down. Just as the number of friends everyone has on Facebook has risen, those we call "friends" has extended to acquaintances, friend of a friend, or someone we would like to meet.…

One in every four women is sexually assaulted before they leave their campuses at the end of their college education. With this in mind, woman involved in sororities have a 74 percent higher potential to be assaulted, and men included in fraternities have a 300 percent larger possibility to commit a sexual assault (Earp). This alarming statistic should bring question to universities around the world, but the truth is that claims against sexual assault are one of the most difficult felonies to prove. Due to all the money involved in college educations, universities have turned into big corporations only concerned with how they look on paper and in return, rape and sexual assault allegations are swept under the rug. My name is Crystal Cook. I was born in Collinsville, Oklahoma in 1983. Being in a military family led me to be raised in several states across the country, including Virginia and Missouri, eventually leading to Texas. In elementary school I loved my teachers. They made learning fun and exciting. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. As I got older, goals changed and I didn’t pursue that path. I had two wonderful children and felt very strongly that I wanted to be a full time stay at home parent. I focused my time on being as involved as possible in the lives of my own children. This led to hold several positions in the school PTA, lead a Girl Scout troop, teach a Sunday school class and also assist in several sports as Team Mom. The part I loved most about my volunteer experiences was having an impact on not only my children but lives of many others as well.…

I think I’m the oddball of the family. I mean look at my cousins; two of them are invested in sports and compete at global sports tournaments, while the other cousin is the straight A, 4.0 student of the family. The adults of my family are in the fields of business, management, and labor positions. What am I interested in? Art. The “easy” subject. Most people treat art as if it were like riding a bike with training wheels on, and no possible way to fail. Word of my desire for a career in art sends adults into hysterics with questions, that can be mildly offensive, “What is your back up plan?” “How will you be able to make any money unless you get famous?” “What could you possibly do with a degree in art?” But I have always tried to be true…

Loved ones are the easiest people to misunderstand in the communication field. Just because loved ones swear that they are the closest in the universe, on most occasions they are the first to misinterpret what was said to them. “For many people, their communication skills with loved ones are not as strong as they think.” U.S. News & World Report (2011) Loved ones assume they always know what each other mean by what they say. A lot of people do not realize that our moods can curve our interpretations of what another is trying to communicate. Communication is the whole key to any relationship.…
