Best Christmas Ever
Best Christmas Ever! Every year I have a great Christmas spending valuable time with family and friends. This past Christmas was the best I’ve ever had. I received the best unexpected gift ever! It all started when everyone in my family came to my house early Christmas morning for breakfast. After breakfast we started passing out gifts. First, we would usually go in a huge circle and everyone would open one gift at a time. This time was different and very odd to me. My family would let everyone open a gift and would skip me. At first, I wondered why I didn’t get my turn yet, but then, I thought to myself that something was up. After a while, my family let me open some of my gifts so that I wouldn’t suspect anything. Next, my whole family huddled up whispering to each other. I then knew that something wasn’t right which made me get a little angry. After my family’s little huddle, they handed me a card. As I read the card, I come across the words,” You will be going on a 7 day cruise to Mexico!” I stood up screaming to the top of my lungs with enjoyment. I cried happy tears because I never expected to go on a cruise especially without my parents. All of my family members rushed to me and gave me a big hug. My grandmother and I cried together in joy and sadness because she was happy for me but at the same time, she didn’t want to see her oldest grandchild leave the country without her being there with me. Over all, my family gave me some advice on what to do and what not to do while I’m on the cruise. I had a great time on the cruise and got to learn about a different culture from mines. It was a unforgettable experience and I would never forget the best Christmas

Before i had a family, i dreamed of my "made up family", having a joyous time. Well that sure made me understand perception can alter your true life experiences when you go thru real situations. My point being, it was June of 2015 last year, and my small family and my mother planned to take a trip. My mother resides in New Mexico and we live in Las Vegas, so the demand for togetherness was of a longing feeling. One could say even mutual. When all the plans went thru we were on our way to Las Cruces,N.M. We were initially going to pick up my baby daughter. She had been with my mother for a few months and daddy was missing her. At this time i had'nt seen my family in 16 years and they were interested in meeting my wife and kids for the first…

The method of concluding traits about a character is known as characterization, and it is when an author lets readers know any kind of information regarding the characters in a story. The two types of characterization are direct and indirect. Direct characterization occurs when an author directly states a trait of a character. Indirect, on the other hand, is used when the author shows a character 's trait through their actions, thoughts and speech, appearance, or that of another character. Truman Capote 's short story "A Christmas Memory", is about a young boy, referred to as "Buddy," and his best friend, or older cousin, who is unnamed in the story. As a tradition, the two friends bake fruitcakes and send the baked goods to acquaintances they have met only once or twice, and to people they have never met at all. They live in a house with other relatives, who are authoritative and stern, and have a dog named Queenie. As the two try to make the best of their Christmas, complications occur and Buddy is sent off to military school, thus making it their last Christmas together. Buddy 's friend would be characterized as: childish, kind, and religious.…

Sadly, we do not have the luxury of visiting our relatives every year but, we have gone twice during Christmas and New Year, and Christmas was celebrated quite differently. During these trips I learned a lot about my heritage and the importance of tradition. You don’t hear the words Santa Claus, and children don’t receive presents on Christmas Day. Instead, we celebrate Dia de los Reyes, or Three Kings’ Day which is celebrated on January 6th .This special holiday commemorates the three wise men who traveled a distance to bring gifts for the infant baby Jesus. Aside from this holiday, we also participated in las posadas, it is a reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s arrival in Bethlehem, performed just before Christmas. Young adults perform these reenactments as they ride on donkey in the rancho, searching for hospitality. Once they are turned away three times, the entire community gathers together at the local church for warm bowls of pozole and mugs of chocolate (Mexican hot chocolate). This reenactment is crucial to our tradition as it is performed several times leading up to Christmas. During my stay in Mexico and participating in all these holidays I learned that there is much more to life than receiving the most gifts during the holidays. My stay there taught me to be humble and to value the important…

What I had hoped would be the best Christmas turned out to be one the worst one yet. Less than a week before Christmas in 2007 my father died in a car accident. I hadn’t seen my dad in months because we lived in different cities and two weeks before Christmas break when I finally was going to go visit him I had received a letter in the mail from him. I opened the letter immediately and inside, he wrote about how excited he was to see me and spend time together over break but it was unbeknownst to me that I would actually never see him again.…

My dad suggested we should give a family BBQ so I could say my goodbyes to everyone. At the BBQ, I was happy to see all my family together after being gone for eleven years. With the smell of the hot charcoals burning on the grill to the taste of the homemade savory sweet potato pie made me want to stay a little while longer. At the end of the night as I pack up my suitcase, I thought about the whole trip and I am glad I had this chance to visit all the other people who love and care about me. The day finally came for Mykeasha and me to go back home to California. As my dad was getting all of our luggage together and stacking them sideways in the trunk, I was saying my goodbye to my little sister Milan and I wanted her to have something to remember me by. I gave her one of my favorite necklaces. It was a gold heart with lots of little dimonds in it. She jumped for joy and put it around her neck and gave me a huge hug and kiss. Pulling out of the driveway, I felt ok. I was happy to go back home but I was upset to be leaving New Orleans where all my other family lives. Getting back home I sat to myself thinking about the whole trip and I realize that it was one of the most memorable experiences of a…

People have many opinions and reasons about their favorite holidays, but out of all the holidays I would think that Christmas is the best above all.
