As the air turns colder, many people get excited about Christmas and all of the traditions that come with the upcoming holiday season. The scent of pumpkin is everywhere during the fall season, and the brisk air can be felt while watching football games on Friday nights which means that people have already started counting down the days until Christmas. Every child waits for Christmas because her or she knows that he or she will not have to be in school, and he or she will receive toys from Santa Claus. Although Christmas is an important event in most religions, it would be hard to argue that Easter is not equally important. In fact, Easter may represent a larger impact on the beliefs of many religions. It is hard to spot the differences between Christmas and Easter. life of Jesus. Several families attend church services on the day of or the night before the holiday. Christmas represents the beginning of the life of Jesus. Easter represents the death and the resurrection of Jesus. Christmas shows that God provided his only son to save from others from his or her sins. Easter also shows that God has provided many of the important aspects of his life to save others from his or her sins.
The meaning of Christmas and Easter is not the only similarity that that two holidays have; both of these religious holidays occur during a change of season.
The Christmas season starts as the air turns cold and as the ground starts to turn white. Children play in the snow, and they are on their best behavior to make sure that they get presents on Christmas. Children break out he or she's winter attire with items such as hats, gloves, winter coats, and boots. Even though many plants are dying outside, there is a new life that is being born. Easter begins as her or she looks forward to warmer weather. The snow melts, and the flowers start to bloom. Pants, jeans, and sweatshirts are being put away and shorts, tank tops, and sandals are being brought out of storage. As the death of Jesus comes near, new life can be found outside with the new plants that start to
grow.
During each of these holidays families come together to celebrate. Families have special foods that they make each year that brings them closer together. For Christmas, many families make cookies and candies. They also share a family meal on Christmas Day and often have either ham or turkey. On Easter Day, families usually also have a meal together. People also make cookies for Easter, and candy is often given to children during this time. Each of these holidays are times for families to get together, have fun, and celebrate. They typically serve ham also, and family members will come back to share in the feast. A fictitious character was created for both Christmas and Easter to help people celebrate and create special decorations. These characters that are used have become icons for the holidays. Santa Claus was created for Christmas, and he brings toys and candy to children all over the world. Gingerbread houses, twinkling lights, evergreens, and candy canes are used to decorate and celebrate the Christmas Season. Easter eggs, flowers, bunnies, chicks, and crosses are used to decorate for the Easter season. The Easter Bunny brings baskets of candy and toys to children on Easter morning to help celebrate. Santa sneaks in through the chimney and leave the children with full stockings and presents under the tree. The Easter Bunny has a secret key to get into your house and leave children eggs and stockings full of goodies. For Santa the children leave out cookies and milk for santa to snack on while going house to house. The children leave out carrots, and “bunny feed” for the Easter Bunny to eat. They each follow the same storyline.
