Bethany Hamilton Informative Speech

Do you think your summer was horrible and not exciting for you? Find out what happen to this thirteen year girl. A girl by the name Bethany Hamilton was attacked by a shark in Kauai, Hawaii. Bethany was waiting for the wave to surf and all of a sudden a shark attacks her. The shark bit off her left and part of her board. She is in the hospital now. Bethany has shown great resilience in overcoming a shark attack in order to achieve her surfing dream. She is being very brave and she is trying to get back in the water to surf again. She is now trying to surf after her surgery. Bethany was scared to get in the water but once it hit her feet and family members cheered her on she got in. She has tried and tried to do new ways of getting on
a board and other styles of getting on. She is exhausting herself until she gets it. Bethany has been really self-confident about getting through her injury. Bethany said by Thanksgiving Day she will be surfing again. She will be done with surgery in five hours from now. After surgery Bethany will need to go through therapy on her nub. She needs to get rid of phantom pain also. Bethany has been determined to be able to surf since the second hour of being in the hospital. The first words that she said were “When can I get back in the water?” Once she figured out how to surf she was determined to get to her surf competitions again. Bethany is now married and is the best surfers in the world. I learned from this story to never give up on anything. Be brave and stand up for yourself. Don’t let little things mess up your dreams. Don’t let your dreams be dreams. Let them come true. Never let anything or somebody stop you.
