Betrayal In William Shakespeare's Hamlet

During the chilly night, Hamlet saw a figure it was the ghost, Dressed in full body armor he hoovered up the stairs and motioned Hamlet to follow him. As Hamlet ran up the stairs struggling to keep up the ghost finally stopped when they were all alone and that's when Hamlet realized the ghost was king Hamlet, who was Hamlets father. The ghost told Hamlet that he was murdered and asked Hamlet to seek revenge for his death. During this time Hamlet became depressed and was betrayed by many of his friends and family. In the book Hamlet, by William Shakespeare a young man by the name of Hamlet struggles with depression, betrayal and seeks revenge for his fathers murder who was killed by Claudius. For Instance While talking to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Hamlet blurted out “ Your a sponge! What is a son of a king supposed to say to a sponge”.(shakespeare 217) When Hamlet called Rosencrantz and Guildenstern a “sponge” he meant that Claudius the king of Denmark was using him to clean up his mess and is telling them that they are both soaked full of the king's approval and when he needed information the king will squeeze them like a sponge.Then after Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were done being squeezed the would be all dry again. When Hamlet realized that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were spying on him he probably felt like he could no longer trust anyone except for his closest friend and he most likely felt alone because they had been friends since they were children. Yet another Example of this is while Claudius is talking to the Court, Claudius announced “I’ve married my former sister-in-law, queen with mixed Happiness and sadness. I know that in marrying Gertrude I’m only doing what all of you have wisely advised all along-for which I thank you.” (Shakespeare 19)When Claudius said “I’ve married my former sister-in-law , queen with mixed feeling of happiness and sadness” he means that even though it's a time of mourning Claudius and Gertrude are still being married. When Claudius says to the court that he is only doing what all of you advised me to do all along it means that they are all betraying Hamlet since not only did his mom marry his father's murderer, but the Funeral is on the same day of the wedding.
