The only experience she has with education is the schooling that she had taken part of when growing up. She never experienced education in the role of a professional educator. The Secretary of Education doesn’t mean much to most people but this cabinet position touches and deals with the education that is given to our youth and future. DeVos also has no experience with the disabled. She stated that she was unfamiliar with the law that protects the students with disabilities. In the article “5 Reasons to Oppose Betsy DeVos”, author Lisette Partelow works to create further opposition to President Trump’s controversial education secretary. The central claim of the entire article is that Betsy Devos should not be in charge of the Department of Education. She clearly states this early on in the article, even in the title. She begins the substance of the article by saying it is not very difficult to see why DeVos would be a bad education secretary. She makes her personal bias very clear. Partelow writes that DeVos’s agenda will be “insidiously destructive”. Right away, the diction used by Partelow would likely dissuade people who support DeVos and Trump from being open to considering the arguments presented.…

While I can not attended this event because I am away at school I urge all people who are in the Chicago-land area to consider attending. Betsy DeVos is Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education. Her goal is to use taxpayers money to fund charter schools and vouchers for private/religious schooling. We have seen in the past that vouchers (while a good idea in theory) do not work. As for using taxpayers money to fund religious schooling—- it is a direct violation of separation of church and state. DeVos has “cloaked” her ideas of privatization of the education system by saying that parents should “choice” where their children go to school—this is a luxury not all families will get. It is my belief that DeVos will cause great damage to public…
