Better to Be Late Than Sorry
Better to be late than sorry The festive season is said to be a season of accidents and the high rate of road accident is testament to this. Road accidents have been identified as one of the causes of deaths in Malaysia. In light of this, the causes of road accidents must be identified to reduce them as an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. One of the causes of road accidents is an increase in road users. Young people today obtain their licenses at a young age of sixteen and thus we see an increase in road users. Also, because of our affluent (rich) society, the number of vehicles on the road has increased too. Impatient road users who speed without a care is also another cause. These reckless drivers are like fools who rush in where angels fear to tread. Sometimes, they speed on narrow busy roads. Badly maintained vehicles with brakes not working and lights not functioning is another contributory factor. Car and buses carry passengers while lorries and tracks carry goods. Overloading of vehicles happen when cars carry more than 5 passengers while buses are packed like sardines. Lorry and track drivers, to save time and reduce cost, overload on goods. Overloading of vehicles has been found to be a cause for those accidents. Most road users are workers or students who face a lot of pressure and stress at work and school. Driving with your mind preoccupied with issues at work and school will distract your mind off the road. Often, tiredness and insufficient sleep cause drivers to doze off while driving, leading to accidents. Drunk driving can be dangerous. Many accidents happen because of drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol. Drinking and driving has fatal consequences because when you are drunk you might not make the right judgement or have good control of your vehicle. Finally, besides human factor, the physical condition of the road is important to prevent accidents. Narrow roads without street lights and potholes on roads can cause

One of the must common hazards of the roads is letting you get distracted by small things that you probably do nearly every time you sit behind the wheel of a car. In some cases, even more so with teenagers than any other group of people, other passengers in the car can distract you, you can get in a heated debate and begin to stop paying attention to the road and only to a passenger, fiddling with the radio is also another big one, I remember reading a story of a guy who reached in his backseat to change his tape and got in an accident and got killed because of it. Another big one is people see an accident and watch it instead of the road, sometimes almost causing them to become another accident. My mom once got in an accident by turning around for only just a second or so to see what my brother complaining about, the light was green when she looked back but quickly turned yellow, the car in front of her stopped and boomed, she hit it. It can only take a second or two of looking away to cause a dangerous situation that can be easily avoided. It can wait until the next red light or better yet when your…

Inexperience: Inexperience can cause accidents because people don’t know what they are doing and therefore can panic and cause collisions or can drive too fast for their skill level and cause collisions in that way. The worst thing people can do is drive to slow for example if someone is driving to slow they could merge into a roadway driving to slow and be rear ended. There have been many occurrences of people driving with inexperience and causing collision due to it. The easiest way to reduce collisions caused by inexperienced drivers is to have them start on a private road and a parking lot until they are comfortable in the vehicle then having them start driving in different conditions until they are comfortable enough to try driving with varying levels of traffic.…
