    Pat Tillman was an American football player who left his professional career and recruited in the United States Army in June 2002 in. Pat Tillman was born on November 6, 1976 in Fremont, California he’s the eldest of three sons. He started playing football ever since he was a young boy; he excelled at football in high school. He helped lead Leland High School to the Central Coast Division I Football Championship. Tillman then went to Arizona State University on a football scholarship. He started his college career as a linebacker for Arizona State University in 1994, when he secured the last remaining scholarship for the team. He also earned many academic awards including: the Clyde B. Smith Academic Award in 1996 and 1997; the Sporting News Honda Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1997; and the 1998 Sun Angel Student Athlete of Year. When the United States' invaded Afghanistan, Tillman decided to put his professional career on hold in order to join the U.S. military. Tillman and his brother Kevin joined the army on 31 May 2002. Pat Tillman gave up his professional football career and his brother Kevin also gave up the chance of a career in professional baseball as he had already signed to play for the Cleveland Indians to join the army. After joining the army Tillman was then sent to Afghanistan. Pat Tillman faced many challenges in his life, one of his challenges was expressing himself freely and openly was not easy for him. The reason to believe Pat Tillman’s courageous is because leaving a professional football career to join the army where life cannot be guarantee just to protect the country. Pat Tillman died in April 22, 2004 Pat he was reported to have been killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan war.
